I just picked up a '71 GS455. The body and interior are really nice, not perfect but, really nice. It has a 1970 455 out of a Riviera, the original engine was blown drag racing two decades ago. It sat in storage for many years and only has 55k miles on it. I will be making some changes to the engine shortly. It has a wild solid lifter cam, quadrajet on a Edelbrock Performer, headers and an HEI. Behind that is a T400 with a stock convertor. The rear is a 12 bolt 3.42 posi. I will probably spend most of my time on the big block street/strip portion of the board. This place is the wealth of info I needed to get this car up to par mechanically.
Looks really clean, Brent:TU: When I got my car it had been repainted that color. I liked it ok at first but I got pulled over a LOT:laugh: It's a real nice shade of red though and the car looks like it's in good enough shape to really show it off!
Was that car for sale at the Gopher state show? The guy had a 72 GS 455 for sale too? Looks familiar. Seemed like a nice car:Brow: Where is Staples? Nice to see more MN guys:TU: Just answered my own question. Near Wadena? I used go up that way to Menahga alot.
Thats probably the one. The guy still has the '72. It is rougher than this one but better documented. He is buying a house so, I lucked out. Man, I just saw a med blue GS in Wadena today, who was that? It had a GSX rear spoiler, I didn't get a very good look though.
There is a lot of GS's around here in MN that people see. No one knows who they are. You should Definately Join the BPG Well worth it. Are you going to go to Car Craft next month? I hope to have my car on the road next summer Been waaaaay too long since I started this project.
Too bad you won't have it done by mid-July, you could pick me up in Burnsville on the way! :Brow: I'll be out there on Friday night, I expect. Doesn't look like I'll be driving the 68 out though.
