I think they said 20 years or more. BTW: It's the SR-72. I also agree with the video host's comment that essentially said that the government would not have retired the SR-71 without having something to replace it. As Habu was operational for 12 years before we knew about it, the SR-72 could be operational now.
Don't know where I got SR-22 from, stand correct. It's SR-72 like you said. Anyway what an amazing aircraft. I would love to see that unclose. Vet
I would too. I also have never seen an SR-71, and would very much like to. In a different thread a few years ago I posted that a B-2 was going to make a low pass over Gillette Stadium before a playoff game, and turned "final" directly over my house in Medway MA. My comment on this forum was that the B-2 in flight was the most sinister-looking aircraft that I have ever seen. It makes the B-52 look like a friendly puppy.
There are two in or near Florida... not so near Naples, though. One is at Eglin Air Force Base near Destin, and the other is at Robins Air Force Base just outside of Macon, GA. They have a great museum... Road Trip!
Thanks for the tip, Dave. I have cataract surgery coming up, and I'm not driving at night until the surgery is behind me.
