Hi. So first, I got this car from an auction 2 years ago(I hate its been so long..) and its been sitting in a shed since 88 before that. The son of the original owner, who managed the sale of the estate, presumably rigged this thing to run.... he used vacuum tubing for gas line, he used literal pen bodies and rubber hose for vacuum lines, laid one right over the EGR valve, and god knows other jury rigging to make it run, yes, but not safely.. thankfully we had to only drive it a short distance because it was local AF. And the gas station we stopped at had a working fire extinguisher. IT had a fire. Im guessing the vacuum modulator wasnt hooked up or was not working since its been sitting and the hot temps + melting vacuum line next to EGR it was a combo of things... anyway. it sits where it sits unfortunately until there is more resources to dedicate to her which comes in line after my park avenue in fixing sense. But I would like to keep the quadrajet and only may temporarily put a spreadbore to square bore adapter, take my k25's newer edelbrock, and adapt it at some point to get it running without having to drop the money for a rebuild(i would do a professional rebuild of that one there, its original) since the car needs tires, all around tune up, most rubber parts, timing adjustment, fluids, some minor interior electrical, radiator(He used windshield washer fluid as anti freeze), found that out when it bad blue slush come out the cap under pressure and then subsequent leak from the side tanks that was blue... of course i bought it in october so freezing weather found its way quick.... needs a new muffler and short piece of pipe before it. got rusty sitting with moisture prob. There is a brake leak to the rear but i would just assume do all the rubber parts anyway... hoses etc.

Anyway, I scored a 77 buick electra limited with 80k a buick 350 and th350 with AC. I cant wait to get it roaring. I am so glad it has a distributor in a good place, because handling the distributor in SBC is fine and good till you have a hd k25 with heavy duty front suspension and you need both a ladder and to lay in the engine bay to reach the damn thing.

LOL! Welcome from Seattle. Rebuilding the QJet professionally is not a large expense from my point of view. Mine was less than $400, and totally worth having a pro do it.

Welcome! Are you keeping the car or pulling the engine for the truck? (Either way, rebuild the qjet and use ethanol resistant hose for all the fuel lines and the engine should be good).

  5. keeping the car since here in wisconsin this is a great shape classic. Its not prettiest because of the paint and some scuffs, but its not rusted out. Not driving it in winter and being an owner who puts any effort in means i can keep it from rusting out easily, since its not hard just sucks when you try and catch up for lost time in previous owners usually. The engine is staying with me no matter what happens, I f the car wraps a tree then it will be pruned out around the engine and then parted and scrapped lol, engine is MINE. I want a 455 buick but 350 is a good start. The truck will keep its sbc

I dont even know how to mate a BOP pattern to a sm465 so by virture of that would be enough lol. I have lots of 2 barrel SBC manifolds and a lot of 2jets, I really could make the truck a 2jet(which I assume is cheaper to rebuild) and then retain both. the truck is a plow truck.
I also have 2 260 olds and a 400 pontiac, which is mated to a sweet th400.. one day I will salvage that drive train out, too. Its a rotting lawn ornament sadly

also, I believe the guy who rigged my buick to run for sale used vacuum line for gas line. as you can see in photo, that is spongy and leaky. it was "new" hose when I bought it, so Its definitely not gas line.

Did this forum by chance upgrade to a different provider/forum handler or whatever they are called? I just realized im finally able to login again. I had issues for a while and couldnt access my account and gave up trying. But it almost seems like this forum is different mechanically but same body sitting on top :)

Honestly I cant imagine many, sorry for the late reply, but Yes it is an AM only radio and it sadly didnt work, hopefully a new fuse is all that is needed. im planning on going to an FM radio at least because I cant imagine i would enjoy the sports only broadcasts on that we get lol.

I remember 6-door late 70's Electras here in the Netherlands, used for taxi services, those came with the radio delete plate.

interesting, I think at one point I Was talking to larry about an account not working, not sure if I remade it or if it was redone behind the scenes and that caused that. I noticed this thread was not in "my" threads tab
