Didn't know there was such a place...I have a 54 Chevy Sedan Delivery with a 65 GS 401, owned it since 76. Presently the thing is stuck, was stored a short time outside when I moved from Neb. to Colo...open element air cleaner and louvered hood...a damn 10 cent plastic bag would've saved that. It's 30 over with TRW Powerforged pistons (probably junk) with a stock TRW replacement cam...allways ran smooth and strong. I used to wrench at a Buick, Pontiac, GMC dealership many moons ago Anyway maybe I'll find some stuff out to get it going again, been busy on my son's Birel/ Rotax race kart, my 72 GMC, and my 69 Dodge Dart with a 440 (spare the boos and hisses). My next project will likely be my 38 Ford coupe (second time around) hoping to build a big small block to replace the 327. Glad to find this site, didn't want to put a Chevy back in the Chevy! Maybe I'll dust off the 54, and send a photo or 2!

    Hi Shep,
If the engine is undamaged but will not turn over by hand after not moving for a few years, you may be in luck. If the problem is possible rust in the cylinders causing the sieze try this before you strip it down(what have you got to loose!).

This sounds strange advice but trust me it works I was told about it by someone I knew who actually unsiezed his engine after he had been told by someone else.(grapvine etc) I saw it work.

Take out the spark plugs and pour some coke a cola (YES! coke from a can, drinking coke a cola) into the cylinders through the spark plug hole, one can should do the eight cylinders, leave it for 24 hours and then try turning the engine by hand. Once the pistons have moved in the bores a little, do the same again this can be done a few times leaving 24 hours each time for it to do its thing. This will clean the surface rust from the bores and free up the piston rings.

Dont try to force it without the coke as the rings will probably break.

If you are really sceptical about this find a rusty nut or bolt or washer or even just an old coin and leave it submerged in coke overnight and see the result!, hey presto! The only down side is it might put you off drinking the stuff when you see the effect it has on machinery, cheers Louis, Glasgow, Scotland, UK, let me know how you get on.
