I came across this board while doing a little research about my Skylark. I am glad to see that there are plenty of Buick entusiasts that are willing to take the time to help out the folks like me. This is my first old car, so I'm sure to have a lot of ignorant questions, so please bear with me.

    The car:
    1962 Buick Skylark
Original Alum. 215 V8 (rebuilt approx 1000 miles ago)
5 speed tranny (looks like it's from an S-10)

    Body/Interior in good shape

I just ordered brake drums and a front end kit. Seems to be all it needs right now, we shall see.

Thanks for letting me in, I'll try to keep the dumb questions to a minimum.

    Cool car. Cool engine!

Did you know, that the Buick-Olds-Poncho aluminum V8 has links to F1 victory??

Jack Brabham, now Sir Jack, used a Repco aluminum V8 in his cars in the mid to late '60s. The Repco V8 was based on the BOP aluminum V8.
Brabham's driver Denis Hulme won the World Driving Championship in '67 driving a Repco powered Brabham, and Jack Brabham's company won the counstructor's Championship that year. Jack was still racing, but he didn't win the Championship that year, I think he was 2nd in points.

    Welcome to the board!

PS nice color, Joe, my '70 looks like it's the same color.

    Thanks, Chris!

I didn't know much about the car when I first saw it, but I'm slowly gathering info. Nearly everything I have come across about the 215 has made me feel confident in my decision to buy this car. The only drawback so far is that most parts supplier books only go back to '64. But, with the help of the internet and Hemmings, that really hasn't been an issue either.

Hopefully, I will be able to find a couple other early Skylark owners to compare notes and parts suppliers with. This seems like a good place to start.

    Thanks again
