wassup everybody. i got a 79 lesabre 350 4bbl. i want to make this thing scream. what should i do first? its running pretty rough, i get alot of valvetrain noise, but it still makes more tourque than its probably safe for a punk ass kid like me; i love this car. what can i do to make it a real rice killer? oh yeah heres some stuff i want to do: 1. get some stock mags 2. beef up the drivetrain 3. custom body work 4. big(ger) brakes 5. kill hondas what should i do 1st?
Sure it's a Buick engine, lot of late 70s had Olds engines in em. Check for front or rear distributor, front Buick back probably Olds. Dave Berryo No:
it definitely a buick 350 im not that wet behind the ears! hehe. well i'd like to do a full rebuild on the old girl. im doing a sohc toyota at school right now, but ive never really done any work on the v8 or any cam in block motor. im wondering if you can just put in solid lifters in a motor like the 350 that was made with hydraulic lifters. i also never really messed with carbs either. i wanna learn more...i guess time will tell.
If your talking about solids on a hydralic cam I always heard no although I don't remember why.You can put a solid cam in it but you'll also need a adjustable rockers which will have to be aftermarket. Cam, bearings, lifters, pushrods, rockers and shafts, and timing set your probably looking at near $1000. Just wondered about the motor because 90% of the late 70s I see in the junkyard are Olds equipped. Dave Berry
well if i do this ill be doing it myself so what kind of gains could i expect if i put in all these parts? would i need a different ignition? valves? where could i find these parts? uzzled:
Look in the back of almost any Car/Chevy Craft and there will be a ad for Postons and T/A Performance either one of which can fix you up. Dave Berry :Smarty:
