I'm about to change the temperature sending unit on my '67 Riviera. I've never changed one and I have a couple of questions:

    - Do I need to use anything on the threads of the new sending unit before installing it?

    - How tight does the sending unit have to be?

    Thanks,
    Dan

    Danny,
I have used a little spray a gasket or high tack on the threads. Tighten it down just enough so it doesn't leak. I would stay away from tape, as it might interfere with the grounding of the sending unit.

Some Teflon pipe dope will work just fine. Will not need to be very tight at all.:bglasses:

One thing you WILL need, though, is a temperature sending unit socket:TU: regular socket won't work.

Thanks for the info everyone! A 15/16 wrench fits perfectly actually. I should be fine since the unit is easily accessible on the intake manifold.
