    Hey Guys and Gals,

I am new to the Board and wanted to say hello!:)

I found a reference to this board from turbobuick.com, which I also frequent.

I have had numerous Buicks over the last 20 years, currently own a 69 GS 400 Convertible and an 87 GN. I am looking for a 70 Skylark ragtop or 70-72 GS ragtop, so if someone knows of one in the Pac. NW, drop me a line!

Curious, how many members here are from Washington and what are you driving?

    Chris

    Welcome aboard Chris!

    What color is your '69?

    Thanks Marco,

It is kind of a metallic copper / brown color. It was repainted in 1990 with Imron paint, and it appears they got tried to get real close to the original color, but not right on. People always ask "how long was it painted?", and their jaws drop when I tell them the paint and top were done in 1990:grin:

    Chris,
Welcome to the board. Nice car you have.

There are quite a few of us around, Jerry in Tacoma has a nice conv. he is working on, Dave Knutsen is in Anacortes is working on a Stage 1 4 speed car.

I am in Enumclaw, and have my 70' down to the frame right now. The frame was powder coated a couple of weeks ago, and the rest of the A-arms and should be done in another week. I am trying to figure which way to go on the front end with Poly, or the OEM rubber.

You will have a great time here with this board. Welcome.:TU:

Marco, not sure, I don't have the car with me at work (always raining here in Seattle:( )

I think it may be 61B Burnished Brown originally, but I can't remember for sure.

    Hi Chris,

Although I may not have my 71 much longer (just waiting for the corrected title so the sale can be completed), there is a pretty big group of Buick guys in this area.

It seems like a lot of us are the drag racer type. Rick and John Biggs spend a good bit of time at Pacific Raceways and Bremerton Raceways.

In September there's BOP race in Bremerton that usually gets a big group of us out. Do a search and you'll find quite a few of us out here.

Oh, and Chris, make sure if you go to the track, you don't race against Steve. He has a very good record. The track officals know him as "the eliminator":Brow:

Pacific Raceway has racing just south of you, and about 5 or 6 Buicks show up weekly, weather it be Turbo-T's, GS's, Skylarks, or GN's.

Have you taken yours down the track?

I haven't run it down the track, and probably won't. It is all stock, 110K mile motor that has never been apart, and I would hate to push it hard and break something. Although that would give me an excuse to do a performance rebuild

Steve's car in his avatar looks familiar, I think I have seen it before when it was for sale on ebay a couple of times? Is that you Steve? I think I looked at it years ago when Victor(?) here in the south-end had it. I can see Steve has done a lot to it since then.

Anybody going to the Buick Open in Puyallup, June 21?

    Yeah Chris that's the one.

I bought it from Victor. Ironically, not long after I bought it I moved temporarily to an apartment in Issaquah. Victor's mom was the manager there!

I actually haven't done anything to the body (other than the premature self-removal of the vinyl top).

I had hoped to have it done by now, but it just didn't work out that way. Since it's essentially sold, I don't bring it out to the track anymore. If not for the title problem with the VIN, it would be gone now.

As far as racing me goes, if I'm in the truck you're fine. I've won only one round in 3 races in it. I have however cut a perfect light in it!

    Hi Chris,

I guess I better chime in here. Were you at the Buick Open last year Chris?

    Hi John,

The All Buick Open is a car show held in conjunction with Meeker Days in Puyallup, Wa. All types and years of Buicks from the early 1900's to present. It's always a good time. Bring the family and we'll see ya there!!

I was Jerry, I think I remember seeing your car there, very nice!

I have gone for the last four or five years, almost always with a different car.

Last year, I brought the GS and my GN. The year before, just the GS, in 2000, I had a 64 Skylark coupe with 23k original miles, 1999, a 1971 GS 350, and in 1998 I brought a 64 Skylark convertible.

It is a great show for Buicks, usually 150 - 200 of them. Lots of GS' and Skylarks.

I am probably going this year, but will be showing up late morning.

You going to make it? If so, I will be sure to stop by and introduce myself.

    Chris
