Hi, I'm new to this board, but have been lurking the past few days and I must say this is hands down the best site for the Buick enthusiast. My first Buick was a 72 Custom 2 dr hardtop with 70k miles which I bought for $650 at the age of 16. I drove it through High school and college, and foolishly traded it in for a 84 Regal after getting the odometer to 183K during 13 years of ownership. Also had a loaded '84 Park Avenue hand-me-down which was a BOAT , but had a 350 (I think) and rear wheel drive. Currently restoring a '72 Custom Covertible with 109k that I bought from a guy whose wife made him sell it for $500. It has been in storage 8 years but I have over $1500 in parts on my bedroom floor and am beginning "restoration" of the car to driver status this month beginning with brakes, hoses, belts suspension, top, etc.

Hope to chat with y'all in the coming weeks.

    Stephen

That convertible looks pretty solid! Any major rotting in it?

Just a little on the lower fenders and lower doors, the quarters are near perfect and the trunk is dry and clean. Of course the radiator support is starting to decay (surprise). Interior is pretty clean but need new door panels. No rust on the floor panels, but the guy put new blue near shag carpet and painted over the original Stratomist Blue for this OOOOGLY imron looking blue!!!

    ; (

Gonna be pricey when I get around to that task. Front suspension is next. Streets of New Orleans are BRUTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Few front-end shops here ever hurt for business!

I have a used blk dash I need to install too. I already saw the posts with instructions. Invaluable

    Thanks!
You are correct, I do have it bad. The car has sat for years and I am ready to break loose the cobwebs! If only Year One did not have 33% of my parts on backorder!!!!:eek2:

Just keep at it and do it right the first time. Most of us probably have Buicks in various stages of restoration. Never be afraid to ask questions. That's how we all learn!

    sleeping with your parts

I have the seats for my car in my room and I actually fell asleep on the back bench. So if sleeping with your parts is bad how about falling asleep on your parts

When I swap out my front bench for buckets I plan on turning it into some house furniture
