Just purchased a 69 Riviera. I never owned a car older than me before. Need help immediately.

As far as front discs, your better off doing one of two things-

Switch it to front drum from another Riviera

    Or

Buy a front disc brake conversion that uses more readily available parts.

The problem with the factory disc brake setup is that its prohibitively expensive to repair. Replacement rotors (if you can beg somone to sell them to you) are $800/ pair. To rebuild and sleeve your calipers is $530/ pair. Its actually cheaper and easier to convert it to another braking setup

thanks. How do you feel about having the existing calipers rebuilt by a shop?

    Welcome to v8buick !
Like Jason sez about your disc brakes, original rotors are almost 'unobtanium', and very $$$ if you do find em.
As far as floor pans go - the '66 to '70 Rivieras (2nd generation) are all similar.
There are no aftermarket repro floor patch/repair panels available, so good rust free 'used' is probably your best bet.
'68/'69 Rivieras share a lot of parts, but there are a few very distinct differences.
Check out the Riviera Owners Association (ROA) at www.rivowners.org when you get a chance,
and good luck with your '69 ! :TU:

No one is going to be able to sleeve them. There's only one place that does that. You have to send them to www.applehydraulics.com . Its $265 a piece and they're the only palce that does the Riviera ones. White Post Restorations does'nt even do them.

That doesnt answer what your going to do about new rotors though.

Ive been though this before with my disc brake Riv. Frankly, my drum brake 68 stops just as good.

Thanks Jason. Have you heard of calipersonline.com? They said that they can do it for $160 when you send in the core. They also say that this is all they do.

I have owned it for 2 weeks now. Its Candy green with off white interior. It has rear drum breaks with disks on the front(problem). 430 engine with 400 trans all original. The spare tire holder and drivers side floor boards are rusted. No vinyl top. I wish i could explain more but i dont know alot about cars

    Hello,
If I go from points to an electric ignition; will that devalue the car? 69 Buick Riviera
