I am new to V8Buick websight, but not to Buicks. I sold my 87 Turbo-T about 6 months ago and have the fever to replace it with a new project. My new get even with brand x's is going to be a 1984 regal limited with a 500 cid. Since the 87 rear end is so hard to find, I found Moser Engineering to solve that problem with a new bullet proof 12 bolt. P.A.E. Enterprises has a new 4 bolt main Bow Tie that can be bored and stroked to 598 cid and with a modified 200r4 and Vigilante torque convertor I sould be able to kick some serious A%*#@$ Seems your websight along with GSCA should bring alot of good insight on modifications and help. Lets show the Brand-X and cheese burners that the real muscle cars will never die. _____________________________________________ Tommy GSCA # 2025
That's very true, I've ridden in one. It was Mike Garrison's "street car". I've never experienced horsepower like that, and I was giggling like a 6 year old. What a rush! :TU: - Freed
I know buick 455's can be bored out one time to a 462cid. I am seriously thinking about a 598cid P.A.E. Enterprise Stroker that should nail you to the back of the seat, or should I say the back seat.:blast:
If you are talking with PAE you probably mean a 528. A bored & stoked as in aftermarket crank 455 often displaces 528ci. Then again he has a new aftermarket Buick block as in not bow tie ie Chevy block that he is working on that probably could be 598ci. At any rate fwiw horsepower with a naturally aspired car has very little to do with cubic inches, it mostly has to do with air flow in the cylinder heads. Torque on the other hand has alot to do with cubic inches. The 2004R gurus will tell you the maximum safe torque load for a 3500ish pound car is 600 foot pounds. If you plan on going with a 598 you would easily bust anything short of a big dollar all out built tranny if you hook it up. PAE will probably try to talk you out of a 2004r for that application. Don't get me wrong I am finishing up a 509ci Caddy transplant into an 87 Cutty 442 cloan with a Lonnie Diers built 2004r. So I like the receipie of big cubes & a 2004r for a relatively heavy street car. My setup should make a horse per cube and about 575 TQ. Also be aware you are talking big bucks for anything 500ci and Buick. I love Buick motors and this board but the reason I went the Caddy route was because I could make alot of power cheap and still make the Chebby heard stratch there head. When I say cheap I mean I did the whole motor machine work bored balanced new pistons intake manifold street ported heads big valves etc for what the new block will cost. Obviously it depends on your goals and what you are willing to spend. PS I also have a GN and love it. I just wanted to have two different hot street cars so I could drive one iwhen I am working on the other. Yea I know I am a little excentric but hey alot of us here are in one way or another.
