I recently had trouble locating new universal joints at a local parts house. No matching numbers came up in a search for these at O’Reilly Auto Parts. After some measurements and comparisons to the ones we removed, we found that a Spicer part #5-3147X or MasterPro 235 will work. These should be what you will come up if you ask for u-joints for a 1992 Chevy 1500 2WD truck.

    Hope this helps someone!

The Spicer 5-3147X and MasterPro 235 have grease fittings. The DANA 5795X is not greasable - I've heard that makes them stronger. Opinions?

Yes, a solid joint is ALWAYS stronger.
