Hey everyone! My name is John, I'm a 20 year old newbie to the boards here. I was never really into cars as a kid...yeah I know, kinda scary ain't it? It just never really appealed to me. Seemed like there were way too many parts to memorize and stuff. But now I can't wait to learn the ropes and really get into auto stuff.

My father use to own a 1974 Buick Apollo when he was younger, and he always wanted another ever since. Well guess what? last tuesday evening we bought it from a gentleman up in Flanders NJ for only $1,600!!! The origional miles in this baby when we bought it was 19,158 miles, but now sits in our driveway with 19,201 miles on it.

Everything on and in it is 100% origional. The owner told us while his wife was out driving the car, a person ran the stop sign. Thats what caused the front damage. My dad and I are going to work together and restore/ and customize it during the summer season, hopefully. It's our very first "father and son" project. I mean heck what better thing is there for a father n' son project than to work on a car! hehheh.

We want to clean up the engine, and do some super nice cosmetic stuff to it and really beef it up to a mean lean machine (Yeah...I like to dream big) Like chrome valve covers, maybe chrome air filter, chrome alternatorm, etc...stuff like that.

I've included some Before pictures for you guys to check out. My father and I have some questions that hopefully we can find answers to here. This place looks awesome. Can't wait to really participate here and post away!

    L8ER!

Welcome aboard John. Great project for you and your Dad to work on. A nice set of Buick Chrome Road Wheels would be a nice place to start the dress up. 14" ones can be had pretty cheaply, dual exhaust would wake up the motor more than all that chrome.
See you both at the Picnic in June:beer

    Hey guys!
Thanks for all the replies. It's so cool being here. I look forward to posting as said before and seeing what everyone else is doing.

Heh heh, it took a Buick to take me from a snot nosed comic book junkie to a car lover...allow me to rephrase...a Buick lover.

My first words were differential, leaf springs, drive shaft and high intake manifold. I'm learnin', I'm learnin'. :Smarty:

Them Buick Chrome Road wheels sound pretty sweet to start. We definitally need to fix the front and get them dents taken care of too. Last sunday I had the honor of starting her up. Boy did she roar...I was grunting like Tim Allen from Home Improvement.

Hey by the way, thanks a bunch for the invite for June 7. Hopefully nothing unexpected will come up. It would be cool
to stop by and check it all out. Dad was laughing cuz when I told him about the invite I was like a little kid that just got his favorite action figure....(yeah I dont get out much. LOL)

By the way, do you guys do this often here in jersey? I live out in North Brunswick, off of route 130.

I had another question, rather a car question, but I forgot what I was going to ask. :Dou:

Well when I remember it, I'll be sure to post. Later guys, and a special thanks for the warm welcome! Hope to see ya June 7th!

    Quick question about June 7th....
can anyone like Marco, or someone let me know the details for June 7th's gathering? So far it looks like we can make it. Besides, it gives us an opportunity to check out what you guys have done with your stuff, and get some pointers and helpful advice.:TU:

so if anyone can drop me a line @ bezaleel@optonline.net
or just post here the details, that would rock!

    Thanks!:beer

Twilight, If you make it to the picnic make sure to bring along another set of jaw muscles. Your jaw will drop so many times as the boys (and girls) on the right coast have some nice cars.
