Hey Falcon can you post a name so we know who we're talking to?Just my humble opinion but I think alot of folks here on the board will say the first thing you need to do is get rid of the 301 and drop in a 350 or a Buick V6.Those 301's were pretty anemic motors and more trouble to bump up HP than it's worth.:puzzled: Any way welcome to the board and feel free to ask anything as this place is a wealth of information and we'll gladly help you get that Regal screamin'.:TU: Jeff B.

    Claus Moeller White trash...

I believe the 1974 350 was a bit stronger built than the older 350's..

Otherwise there's also the buick 340 which is also not a bad idea.

Any of the 68-80 350's are a good platform to build on but if you can the 70 motors had the highest compression. However the 73 and later 350's had the stronger rods in them, also the 71 and later blocks and heads had a higher nickel content in the block and heads so you wouldn't have to have the hardened valve seats installed as the stockers are plenty strong enough. The block webbing in the 350's was actually better than the 455 motors and are a good design. As far as what you can do for the 301 there isn't much other than doing some head porting and maybe shaving the heads a little to bump up your compression.Good luck David and keep us posted on your progress.Jeff B. :TU:

the 301 was a pontiac, unless there was more than one...i thought all the regals had olds or buick motors, though.

    sbbuick My driving scares people!

301" are terrible engines - almost as bad as the Olds 260"!

Save your $$ and build a 350" BUICK!
