  3. I just searched for NHRA tracks, and Sturgis has the only one listed for SD.

Wow, sounds like they've made some nice improvements. My last trip out was in '01; maybe early 02.

Sounds like it'd be a good site. Should we post a poll & see how much interest there'd be?

Hey David & Greg, I really could use that other rim to complete the set for the spring. Let me know what I owe you for shipping Doug Updike 1431 Richmond Ave Hamilton, NJ 08619-3556:TU: Thanks to you both.

  6. Cool, you have 2 happy customers Greg! I'll email you my address, let me know how much $ you need for the other rim. If you can get to Spee Dee to ship, they are much cheaper than UPS and deliver to my work every day. We've had good luck with them. But ship however works best for you. Thanks Greg! :beer

    wheels

Dave I get to Bismarck once a month if you want me to pick up your wheels and bring them back?

I talked to a guy that works for the Sabin track. They have had test and tune days and races for the ricers. The first time they had about 85 cars and then it increased to 120,135 and the 150. He just shakes his head and said it gets to be alot of work for those cars but it helps pay the bills.

  9. Ed, thanks for the offer, that would be great if you could bring one rim back with you. You'll have to get together with Greg to work out details.

I really don't know much about the goings on at Sabin. I've been there once, in 2002 before they remodeled, and was very unimpressed with the facility in general. I hope they've upgraded more than just the track. I was just spectating for an afternoon, and it was hard to find a place to sit where I wasn't afraid of falling thru the bleachers! It does sound like the track is excellent though.

They have new grand stands so you should be safe. I plan on going out there next year just to see how the car runs. I know I will get tossed since its a convertible without a roll bar.

I will be in Bismarck in about 4 weeks since I was just there.

If David's not in a hurry, that sounds good to me. Why add a cost to a free wheel? It'd sound even better if you say you're coming out with the 64 (hint hint) heehee

Want to be teased a little? Met a guy this summer who was driving a near-mint 64 convertible. He let me look the car over, then told me the story of how he got it. Seems it belonged to a local doctor. He put a brand new top on it then put it in storage - 10 years ago. Hadn't touched it since. Got the bug to have a 'hot' car & wanted a Roush 'Stang or some such thing. His wife was a bit upset at the idea since he had this other car he hadn't touched for so long. So it was one or the other. The convertible wasn't the hot rod he had in mind, so it had to go.

Now, being able to do math, I'd have figured:
$60/mo * 12 * 10 years = $7200 = good starting point for a price. Especially considering the condition the car is in.

So what'd the new owner get it for? $3000. He's already turned down offers of $11k. Loves the car, has no interest in selling. Can't blame him!

  12. Greg, I'm in no hurry, Ed's offer works for me! Thanks guys! :TU:

I have a question about going to larger rims that seems to often get overlooked by people. How does it affect you speedo readout and how hard is it to change a speedo/tranny gear to compensate for bigger wheels?? :Do No:

  14. Ken, I'm sure the change will throw my speedo off even more than the current 5mph it is off by. None of my current drive train is original, so I run about 5 faster than the speedo shows. I'll have to have my wife lead me around with the van so I can see how much worse it is after swapping.

I know there was a pretty good thread awhile back about the speedo fix issue, just have to do a search to find it.
