I just bought the TA Sp 2 Intake with the 4500 flange for the track eliminator heads. I was wanting to run a NX plate ststem on it but the flange does not look user friendly for a plate. I could go with nozzles but the lowest setting is 200 on gas and 250 on an alcohol setup. I was also told that the Buick blocks go at 850 HP, my motor only estimate is 650 HP. I live 1 mile from Nitrous Express and I talked with them and for a plate they wanted to cut up my intake which I will not let them do. Do any of you have this intake and run nitrous through it, if so how are you doing it?

    Thanks,

I have the SP-1 intake. Top Gun machined the intake and put four spraybars into the intake (2-stage setup).

It's very slick, and I don't have the hood clearance issue. And I can jet down to 75HP (or up to 300 + 150 = 450).

I used to have a plate, but that could only accomodate one stage of nitrous. Two stages would have required a very tall plate (hood clearance issues).

Also, if you put spraybars in the intake, you can have the bars go side-to-side instead of front to back, I think this gives more even distribution.

If it's just the bars themselves that you are opposed to, maybe you can install two nozzles into the sides of the intake plenum. That way you could use two nozzles instead of 8, although distribution might not be all that great.

I don't undestand what your problem is. On my old nitrous 462, i had a heavily ported SP-1 with a nitrous express gemini twin plate unit, 4500 flange, no problems. My new motor has the SP 2 with TE stg. 2's, heavily ported, and I don't remember it to be any kind of a problem. Hood clearance wasn't a problem because I run a scoop. The only thing I will be doing different is mount the plate "side ways", this would feed the runners better, the Buick manifold is like 2 halves, front 1/2 feeds 1,3,2,4 and the back 1/2 feeds the rest. this shouldn't be a problem, the 4500, dominator flange is square. I know this will work my old combo. ran 11.20s on motor, and 10.40's on a 150 shot. Like I said I have a nitrous express unit. Gary G

Don't even think of running the bar front to back as you normally see. The bar needs to be sideways in a TA intake as the runners feed off the ends of the plenum not the sides. The distribution would be rediculous with the bar in front to back. It does work well on this intake with the bar turned sideways. I made my own plate with the original spray bar from NOS and a 2" thick aluminum plate and contoured to fit plenum. EGT temps would run within 10 degrees on all cylinders. I would recommend port equalizing that intake for nitrous use, it may not make more power but EGT's will be more even and easier to tune.
