I get the same type of comments when I stop at Summit Racing Equipment(should be Some Racing Equipment). They are down and out rude when you ask for parts for a Buick. One sales guy even asked why I waste my time and money.

I had two spots at the Charlotte Auto Fair last week. I had never been there before so it was a learning experience. I brought mostly GM stuff I've collected over the years: mainly Buick, Olds, & Pontiac.

I kid you not: I estimate 75% of everyone that passed by & asked me questions asked if I had "Chevelle" stuff. I got sooo tired of Chevelle!!

I had a perfect complete dash & instrument panel off a '72 Grand Prix: wiring & all. Some guy asked me if it would fit his Chevelle. AAAAUGGGHHH!!! I really wanted to punch him.

Of course...after I got to thinking about it, it might actually fit.... hmmm.

Oh well, how disappointing: cars today are like clothes. It's all Timberland (Camaro) or Tommy Hilfiger (Chevelle).

does anybody know what "Nova" means in spanish? i'm not certain but if i remember right, it means "won't go" how appropriate  anybody know if thats correct? i think i heard that in a personal selling class because they were discussing selling products and why novas wouldn't sell in spain.

God, i hate chevys. i know thats terrible because i've owned chevy trucks and chevy's are gm but......ah to hell with it. chevys are like the asshole cousin that nobody in the family likes.

Once while at a car show a guy came up to me and said something about my GTX . I just looked at him and let him ramble on in his demented mind . At the second mention about the GTX we were standing next to the 1/4 panel at which point I kneeled down and pointed to the GSX decal and told him damn I got the wrong emblem , then I just walked off , leaving him wondering . :bla:

The parts guys around here are pretty good. It's amazing how often the rest of the world thinks a boat tail is front wheel drive though.:Dou:

I worked part time at an auto parts store a few years back when one of these self proclaimed know-it-alls comes in and asks for a water pump for a Chevy. I asked him what year make and model and he said it doesn't matter cause they are all the same anyway. So I go back and get a short shaft water pump and send it home with him. A couple hours later he comes in all hot headed and says the damn thing doesn't fit. I said, "What do ya mean? They are all the same aren't they?" and he procedes to tell me I gave him a water pump for something else. I said "Okay, Let's do it MY way. What Year, Make and Model for the second time and he tells me and obviously it was a different water pump I sent him home with. Musta worked cause I never saw him again. Woulda saved him lots of time if he hadn't been so smart!!!

I spent a year working for O'Reilly's in Lincoln, we had all kinds of people come through there. I once had some kid try to tell my that my Shelby GLHS was an earlier form of a Mitsubishi Eclipse. Um noooo . . .

You guys should try looking for parts for a turbocharged Dodge Omni sometime :pp

My dad used to have all kinds of oddball projects going (unique cubic inch displacements or unconventional machining or whatever). He used to go ballistic when the parts guy would say "...you can't do that...".

Normally he'd reply "well, I wish you'd told me that 30 years ago before I did it the first time..."

I 've learned not to ask any opinions and definitely prefer not to mince with the knuckleheads at any of the local parts stores or gear-head garages around here
Only because everyone always tries to convince ya to pillage the summit catalogue and buy LS1 or Gm crate stuff .. Or there's always a guy that'll try and argue with you that the Old's and Buick 350's are the one and the same.
OR some dorkwad who wants to compare apples to oranges over small blox and big blox.. I get tired of it. I really do.. Kids are always tryin to talk ya into vinyl decals and lowering kits and older adults verbally raping you for not takin the cheapo route with skummit parts catalogues.. The 60's and 70's is just another era never quite understood by today's generation. Seriously doubt it ever will be.. The first generation gap is always the hardest to overcome.. give another 2 or 3 generations and I bet they don't take Tri-Shield era for granted anylonger.. Shrugs!! I gues I'm one of the lucky ones.. My family all the way back to my great grandfather down to myself have owned buicks , olds , pontiacs, fords , cadalac, chevy ,hondas, and vw's. I myself have had an assortment of cars 19 to be exact when i was 25 i was on my 14th automobile. A 1985 gt40 mustang gt. out of all of my cars and the ones my father and grandparents have owned the buicks and olds were my favorites. maybe i'm biased.. who knows LOL

Here in Australia there are not too many old Buicks, Olds Caddys etc, so when I fill it up at a servo that is not local, I often get "nice caddy mate" I tell them its a Buick, then there is a confused look on there face, and it vanishes. They ask what motor it is.
    455
    Do you mean 454?
    Nooooo, 455.
Oh, it must be an olds motor.
I have to pay for my fuel buddy. Doors are open, take a look.

Its funny on the VERY rare occasion when in the Buick I pass another. I passed a 67 2 door Wildcat (where is the 'on my knees, worshipping' smiley??) left hand drive. There was blasting of horns, and armsstretched for a wave as far as we could manage. Many strange looks.

Oh, and my dumb ass neighbour told me the motor is a Pontiac motor, transplanted into the Buick. This is the guy that knows everything about everything. Trying to tell me about the importance of water. F**k, I didnt know that!!!!!!

Mine is not nearly as bad... but when I drive my low mileage rust free 1989 Buick LeSabre T-type around or someone hears me talking about it , they are like "Oh like the Grand National right ?"

I have to explain that Buick made many T-Type cars that were Not offered with a Turbo such as Lesabre, Electra, Century, and Skyhawk. They have this puzzled, cufused look on there face most the time. :Dou:

I get the good ole' "Gonna take your Grandma shopping with that car?" all of the time from a Ford F-150 driver. He hasn't even seen my car yet but as soon as he hears Buick, it apparently equals Grandma. Can't wait to get up beside him to show him how fast my grandma shops!! :Brow:

    Damn In-laws,
My wifes dad says that I should have put a LS1 in insted of rebuilding the ole'455. He says that way I can buy "stuff" for it at places like summit. I told him I can buy "stuff" for it at TA or Poston just as easy as summit....so sad

heres a good one, i went into the local checker (shucks/kragen) in other places. i was looking for the plastic 'push pins' that hold the rockers to the shafts. i had the rockers with me and the shaft as well as some of the plastics. the guy behind the counter told me that that was an aftermarket set up cause "i got 10 350 chevys at my house" basically i told him to finger his cinnamon ring with no lube and walked out!

fast forward to wednesday, i think that my th400 pan is leaking and go to the store to get a new gasket. what year? make? and mode? i tell the guy its a 72 buick gs with a 455/th400. he brings back a box and gives me the gasket, i ask if he is sure its the right one. he says hes. i get home and its one for a th350. i take it back and tell him its not the right one, he says ' thats what the computer says' so i reply listen man, its NOT the right one. he looks it up again, yes sir, thats the one.:Dou:. he says, i think you could only get a 350/th350 combo in a skylark that year! ok smart guy, just gimme one for a 72 riviera then. i get the right one, guess ill just have to gets parts for my "rivi" from now on.

on a good note, i needed a dipstick tube for my th400 and went to the 'speed shop' and asked for one for a 72 chevelle with a th4oo and got one for 11.84!! summit and jegs wanted 61.99+ for a tube for a 72 buick gs/ th4oo
