I know its not a Buick story, but not eveyone can go fast with class.

Well from my wheel repair shop, I do a lot of work with other shops locally and one which is West Coast Viper had called my one day to polish out these 19 inch bahemiths ,on street slicks, on a newer style Viper. It looked mean as hell, so I ask my buddy what its pushing he says they had just dyno'd it at 1120hp :eek2: I damn near crapped.

So yesterday Im with my buddy in his 07 EVO 4wd and and we had just got on the freeway. Now my buddies EVO is pretty bad ass 400whp he's told me, big ass turbo, matching big ass wing, :Do No: hey its his car not mine, and a methanol/water injector good for another 100, so he tells.

So we're going maybe 55, and what pulls next to us but the green 1120 hp viper I had seen. Guy looks over hits the gas a little and thats all my buddy needed, they're off. The viper pulls half a car length, just enough for my buddy to read the vipers plates. They're working through the gears, and my buddy is still right in the same spot. I look over at the speedo, I see 149 and two drops of pee come out. They both got off at the same exit and the viper guy was like, "that is one sweet little Ricer man" and turns the opposite way. I was telling my buddy, dude I've seen that viper at WCV its pushing 1120, and he was like I told you my car was bad.
    I learned 3 things,
    1) I might need to go see a doctor about the bladder problem
    2) My buddy can drive
    3) My buddy probably would have won if he didn't have the wing from a DC-10
    :beer

yea the Evo's are no joke. my friend has one at his shop now (08' i think) runs low 11's easily with a crappy driver. its in the shop cause the kid broke a rod in the block and they asked my friend to remove all the aftermarket stuff and he's going to try and take it to the dealer and warranty the block:rolleyes:

haha damn, Sounds like a good race but come on, 400 hp to 1100+??? I don't care how light that Evo is, that would be no contest in stop light race or a planned highway race. I bet that evo has a killer launch and I bet that viper doesn't but 700 extra hp makes up for it.

passenger weight probably didn't help either.

Me and a buddy from work dropped by the Mitsubishi dealership to pick up his girlfriend the other day and we went inside to check out the Evo they had in the showroom. Those things look mean from the front. The salesman says it has just over 300 hp stock (at the crank obviously) but those things are light as hell! I love the seats, they're a racing style seat that hugs your body.

    Love the feeling of that.

Those Henessey Twin Turbo Vipers are over 1000 hp and can run 9s. They actually beat the Bugatti Veyron in the Texas mile. Something like 0-200 in 19 seconds. So IF the viper was 1100+ hp, there is no street evo ever catching that viper. The viper could probably start out in 2nd, shift straight to 5th and still beat an evo.

  11. How much boost is the Viper running to make 1200? Evos are badass but I doubt it would catch a viper even if it was in stock trim

Good question, I'm not sure how much boost they run. I know when they did the Texas Mile they had the boost low until they go to like 120+ because of wheel spin. I would assume 15-20 lbs of boost
