Not my favorite year 442, but a heck of a survivor!

Oh goodness. Thanks for posting this link.

For a couple of decades my dad has been telling me he wants a '65 4-4-2. I bet he mentions it to me at least 10 times per year. His preference is a 2-door sedan (post), manual transmission, no A/C, small dog-dish hubcaps, in driver condition (survivor being his preference). This car checks all of those boxes. I'm almost afraid to send him the link.

Wow, does not even have an outside mirror. I guess that was still an option in 1965

We nearly bought a mint, low 13 second '65 with a 455 swapped in for my older brother's first car, from the guy we bought a real deal 550 hp LS-6 engine we put in my Dad's '67 Chevelle. Think we paid $1000 for the engine ....Brother couldn't swing the $4000 at the time for the 442 (1993 or so), so he ended up with a minty Nova for $1800....That 442 made me an Olds fan forever, and I personally love the '65 with the side scoop, but I like them all up to '72.

That is a WOW car for sure. I always thought 442 meant 4-speed, 4- barrel, dual exhaust, is this a 342?

They changed the meaning of "442" throughout the years. You could get them with three two barrels some years, you could get them with automatics, 3 speed manuals, 350 cube engines.... you could even get them with a 4 cylinder, 4 valve, dual (2) overhead cam the last time a "442" was offered.

The lack of mirror wasn't lost on me either. I guess the 3 speed floor shifter was an option over the "tree".

The missing outside mirror is what makes this beast so aerodynamic.

I had a 65 442. If that were a GTO the price would be double that.

If I recall correctly, all of the first year 442's were 4barrel,4 speed, dual exhaust cars? That would be the 1964 models and they all had the 330 cube 'Ultra High Compression" engine. I think it was called the BO9 option. Larry.
