    simon1243 Got Torque?

at wot my car will sometimes shift at 4300-4500 in first gear. normally it shifts at 4000 like clock work. and to complcate things more it only does it some of the time and only in first gear. i can floor it through the gears and it will shift late for the 1-2 and then it will shift fine for the 2-3 shift. then the next time i floor it though the gears everything shifts fine. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thanks ahead of time curtis

    Curtis,
I don't know what to make of that, except to tell you to check all the basics first. Fluid level, vacuum modulator, vacuum line integrity. Also, sounds like you do not have the kickdown hooked up, and working correctly, and until you do that, the trans will never shift right/consistently.

my kick down switch works fine and i have vaccum at the trans i havent check the fluid yet because i havent had it up to opperating temp. its gotten very cold out in the last few days so ive been driving a car that doesnt have as many air leaks. but it just over revs in first gear occasionally. but i geuss ill go for a drive in it so i can check the trans level. also my nearly bald tires dont work to well in the 10" of snow. but thanks for the sugestions

    Curtis,
A stock transmission should shift WOT, at 4500-4800 RPM. That's not over revving. If it shifts at 4000, that's low, and is typical of the kickdown not being connected or working. What year is your transmission, and what is the 2 lettter calibration code? (on plate attached to passenger side of the case) Some of the switchpitch valvebodies had odd shifting characteristics. See dcm422 thread on the switchpitch in this forum.
