OK, this is getting old. I've had a oil pan gasket leak since i rebuilt this 455. Among other things, the oil leak is driving me nuts. I'm using a felpro cork gasket with no sealer except on the 4 corners of the cork. It appears to be leaking at the back on the rubber. The rear main is fine. Can I use some indian head sealer or is there some other better gasket we can use? I am going to be changing the gasket in the car when I pull out the trans in a week or so. any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

  2. I changed my pan gasket on my 430 (should be the same pattern more or less) and have no leaks after a year.

    couple questions:

    1. Did you tighten all the bolts evenly, in cross fashion like on a head or an intake?

    2. Why did you only apply sealer to the four corners? following the gasket install instructions, I went all the way around the gasket surface, not gobs of it but about 1/2 - 2/3 of what you'd ordinarily see as a beadwidth for toothpaste.

    Good luck...:)
