Hi, I had a timing gear disaster in my 70' Buick Skylark. There was a LOT of gunk (plastic gear part and old oil or mud) in the cylinder head area where the rockers are, i have the lifter cover but not the cylinder cover. There are 2 oil passages, my question is where do those go, I stuck a trimmer wire thought them and they are preatty clear but they dont come out anywhere. Where do they go?

The bottom passage goes to the oil pickup in the pan. The other is the feed to the lifter galleys.
What you are likely going to find in the pan is the remainder of the plastic to the cam gear. It will be on the bottom and likely blocking the pickup screen.
If you found plastic on the top of the motor in the rocker area (possible, but unlikely as it would have to also get by the filter), you could have a severe problem on your hands. It could mean that the plastic got passed the flapper in the pickup and got sent through the motor. It could also be in the lifter galley and even into the feed holes to the crankshaft and rods.
Take a really good look at the sludge you have in the rocker area. Sometimes it is just crusted up oil and not the plastic which usually stays in the pan.
Just take a good look at things when you get the motor out and the pan off.
    Good Luck,
    Mark
