I have a 69 400 and the TA timing cover worked great on it, with no modifications.

Since you have to pull the distributor to get the timing cover off, it is really easy to prime the oil pump before putting the distributor back in, especially with the TA tool.

Thanks. That’s why I might do. I can’t get the water pump off. It’s glued on with RTV or something. I tried hammering a flathead screwdriver in but just chipped up the edge of the aluminum cover. I ordered a RTV sealer pry tool. Going to try that. Then I have the issue with all the broken bolt studs so don’t know if I can get those out. I’m thinking I should just pay the $869 to TA to have them send me a cover with a new pump, but that’s for their HP oil pump, so hoping they will put a regular pump in for me. The oil pump installation, gears, springs, clearances seems very complicated.

That's exactly what I did. The only additional thing I did was to replace the spring that they put in the adjustable regulator with a shorter one (that they included). The oil pressure was too high. I suggest you call them and tell them what you have and what you want. Their tech support is great too!

I’ve got oil leaking around the timing chain cover anyway, so maybe it’s for the best. And sounds like it will make life easier and look cooler too.

Yes it will fit. When you're doing an engine overhaul it's also recommended to drill out the oil passage in the engine block, because that one is bigger also in later year blocks. But I can see that would be a little much in your situation.

The guy in this video is indeed the one with the Youtube channel Mr Rodder’s Neighborhood. I don't know where he is located.

Ok, I got my order in along with the hardware. I found your post where you installed it. I ordered a new harmonic balancer and bolt too.

They said the timing chain cover assembly actually comes with the stock replacement oil pump already. I had bought a new stock replacement water pump from them and was going to go ahead and get the HP water pump since I am doing the rest now, but he suggested I stick with the stock replacement water pump since I wasn’t having any cooling issues.

I didn’t get a new timing set, but I guess I will evaluate on that once I get the old timing chain cover off.

I have a new impact wrench coming to get that harmonic balancer off and the new one back on.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

No problem from me... glad to help!

Good ideas on the balancer and water pump. You might as well, since you have to remove them anyway. Especially if the history of them is not known. I went with the stock water pump, too. I have the Cold Case radiator, that has done an amazing job of keeping the running temperatures in check.

I initially didn't buy the timing chain either. Once I saw how loose the existing one was, after I got the cover off, I decided it would be a good idea since it was all exposed now.

Hello. I have a 1968 Skylark 350. I need to replace just the adapter/pump cover that the oil filter threads to as they are stripped.

To just replace that, can I just reuse the same spring, squirt oil into the new cover thru the hole as per your picture, reinstall and be good to go ? I only have to do this due to the stripped threads from the last oil change.

Thanks and a reply would be greatly appreciated
