ok heres the story. i had a crack in my oil pump so i call around and find a guy that has an old one sitting around his shop. $50 dollars later ive got it, perfect condition. i bought a new shim kit, booster plate and bolt kit from TA performance. i reused my high pressure oil pump from Poston buick and put it together last night and it still has some small leaks from my booster plate and spacer plate. i used all new gaskets but did not use any sealer. im also using my old pump cover. i filled the oil pump full of petroleum jelly like im supposed to and i get good oil pressure, about 39. i was so heart broken it still leaks, any help would be appreciated thanks,

I would make sure that all your mating surfaces are clean. No residual gasket material or burrs. If they are clean, check the mating surfaces with a true straight edge and feeler guage to make sure everything is kosher. I don't know what the specs are off hand, but I would be shooting for .000 or in other words, a .001 feeler gauge will not slip under the straight edge.
    Good luck

    I had same

problem also.My original 455 from factory leaked at the oil pump. There was oil and road dirt everywhere.Put a booster plate on in one of the rebuilds and that leaked.
Than I sprayed on bothsides a coppery gasket sealer.Let both side dry and sprayed a 2nd coat than installed rightaway and let sit like that for 24hrs.Fixed the problem.

    JOEL!!!!

When I had my 462 built in May, the shop primed it before they released it to me, and it leaked like crazy. Turns out the brand new TA booster plate was not perfectly flat!!! They had to machine both sides of it to get it flat.

Take the plate to a shop and have them surface it. It'll probably cost $50 or more, but it won't leak!

hey thanks guys, im going to pull my pump apart again in a few minutes and clean the surfaces so their spotless and then im going to use some silicon sealer on both sides of my gaskets, its supposed to fill in all the imperfections of the metal. if it still leaks after this i'll be taking in my booster plate, spacer plate & oil pump cover to get them surfaced, i know some people so it shouldnt be too much.
i'll let you know how it goes and maybe post some pics of it all done.
    thanks,
    joel

    WARNING WARNING

    DON'T USE SILICONE THERE.
You'll suck that stuff up into areas that it's not suppose to be.
    STOP.
