Originally my car was silver with black vinyl top and pearl white interior. I am in the process of fixing some vinyl top rust. My question is:
Personal choice-My Skylark was a vinyl top car, but I am going all one color. If I were to split it up , I would paint the top, not do vinyl. Your car, do what works for you.... Jim/Rott
I usually prefer a vinyl top if it matches the interior. In this case, I think all silver would look better (if you're keeping the interior white).
Hi Joe, How have you been? May I answer your question with a question? I know you're going for the pro touring look and want a nice aftermarket wheels on your ride. Can you post the wheels you plan on putting on someday? For me, anyway, that would make a difference.
I'm now leaning towards all silver with GSX striping. I'm doing ok. Next Wednesday I go to the Cleveland Clinic.
I would remove the vinyl top and all evidence of it.<o></o> If you are not painting the car and leaving the trim thanreinstall the vinyl top. I like the white top with silver but since you haveblack interior I would go with a black top.<o></o> <o> </o> Nelson <o></o>
The only reason that I installed a new vinyl top on my GS when I had it painted was because the car came from the factory with it.
Personally I like silver with the white top. If you're keeping the interior white, I would go with a white top. You can see why by my avatar. If I didn't like the original Sherwood Green so much I would for sure go back with a Silver over White combo. And if you were ever to decide to sell it, it wouldn't be a big deal to put it back to the original black top. :TU:
I would agree-solid silver with X stripes would be the ticket with those wheels. Good luck! I'll ray: for wellness
My car is Sea Mist Green with Dark Green interior and Dark Green vinyl top. When I repaint I am pretty sure I will go with another Dark Green vinyl only because the car is always garaged. I think the Sea Mist Green cars look better with a vinyl top. Post some pics when its done.
Your car was stunning when all original.....a very classy Buick color combo, I would restore it back to 100% original.
I ordered my 70 GS without a vinyl roof even though it is one of the few cars that looks fine in a vinyl roof. I just couldn't see breaking up the body line that starts at the rear window and goes to the rear fender extension. But what do YOU want? That's the question!
If resto-modding (like mine in the pic) go for the more modern monochromatic look. Buick did two tone paint jobs in 72 - don't know about 70. I had a 72 LeSabre that had a cascade blue bottom and a stratomist blue top. I wish I still had that car.
My opinion is formed purely by looking at hundreds of images of 67/68 Wildcat hardtop coupes, but I have to say, the one colour on metal all over looks sooooo much better than ANY two-tone or vinyl roof. Then again, this may also have something to do with the fastback styling of my preferred Buick. ALL-SILVER Buicks look fantastic, I will add that for free. Good luck with your choice.
