Only 1 Month Away - 2014 Buick Stock Appearing Class

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

The 2014 GS Nats are only one month away and I want to encourage anyone that has a stock appearing Buick to consider running the Buick Stock Appearing (BSA) class. Many of you have a car that fit this class perfectly and theres a place for anyone, regardless of what year Buick you have or what e.t. your car can lay down.

Besides being fun, you have a chance to win some money this year. Payouts and complete rules are shown in this thread:
    http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?274759-2014-Buick-Stock-Appearing

The rules are pretty simple and everyone has an equal chance to win since the cars are run off of indexes that are based on your personal qualifying time.

This is not a cut-throat competitive class, its a group of guys that enjoy racing their stock appearing Buicks and want to have fun. Despite being put out in the first round two years in a row, I still had a great time. In fact, Ive never heard anyone in the class have anything but positive comments about the class and their fellow racers. There is a lot of great camaraderie in this class.

If you are still on the fence about running in 2014, take a look at this brief recap of the BSA from 2012 (we were rained out last year so I dont have any race photos from 2013).

In 2012, there were entries from 67 73, with e.t.s in the 14s all the way down to the 11s. There was a 10th car (Starc Traxler) but he had some issues and didnt get to run on Saturday.

Here are the qualifying times from Saturday morning:

Name Car # Car Description Qualifying e.t.
    Keith Egan #7133 70 GS 455 (black) 12.17
    Dave Hemker #7014 70 GS Stage 1 (white/green) 11.70
    Randy Hollister #7487 71 GS 455 (orange) 13.62
    Richard Johns #7210 70 GSX Stage 1 (yellow) 12.47
Michael Littlejohn #7101 72 GS Stage 1 Sun Coupe (red) 12.77
    Phil Roitman #7120 73 GS Stage 1 (orange) 12.85
    Nick Sloop #1090 70 GS 455 (maroon) 13.66
    Gary Steele #7224 67 GS 400 convertible (blue) 12.19
    Bryan Woodworth #5495 68 GS 400 convertible (blue) 14.07

The 2012 class winner was Randy Hollister with his 71 GS455.

Here are some race photos. I didnt get any photos of the 1st round because I was racing, but since I lost in the first round I was able to get some photos of the other rounds.

Since we didn't get to run on Saturday in 2013 due to the rain, I only got a few pictures on Friday. Here are a few of the cars that were on hand to run BSA. Hopefully everyone can make it back this year, along with some new guys.

A BIG THANK YOU to Jim Rodgers for all of the time and effort you put into making the BSA race class a success.

A BIG THANK YOU to all who participated in the BSA race class. Without your support and participation the BSA race class would not happen. We had the largest group ever participating with 14 racers. I had a great time as usual!!

Lets see if we can get next years field of BSA racers to grow even larger.

I want to echo the comments of Greg and Dave. Thanks to Jim Rodgers for continuing to organize and promote this class. I hope Jim is able to join in next year with his own car.

It was great seeing some new guys join BSA and the car count of 14 was great. Everyone I spoke with had positive things to say and hopefully all will be able to come back next year.

I'll upload some photos and details of the 2014 times and results soon.

Thank you everyone. I was surprised by and very happy with the turnout. I feel like most everything went off without a hitch. Thank you to all the participants and sponsors and the GSCA. Hopefully someone will post some pics and when I have time I will do a writeup!

    Thanks again!

Thanks, Jim, for promoting the class so that it drew a big crowd and organizing it so it ran well. I had a blast. It was good to see at least a dozen states represented.
