CJ, I just confirmed the speedo information through other sources, Thank you very much for your time and reply. They recommended a Corvette 70" cable, it is said to be a direct fit. Also the switch swap looks to be another direct fit, very helpful with the purple wire info and confirmation of all else, thanks a lot. Appreciate all the expert info, just what I was looking for.
Just a word of caution. While I was building my small block the machinist checked the bore at the back of the crank to be .007” off center, not full machined and a little too large for the stock pilot bearing. He did machine it so it was dead on and made me two custom pilot bushings so I have a spare. Also check and see if your block has the threaded hole for the ball for the z bar. Mine didn’t.
A lot of small blocks don't have that hole machined. I've drilled the blocks in the past. Talk about nerve wracking
My issue was found while he was preparing to machine the block and checking crank journals. He put a lot of attention to detail. Only thing is my new car has a hydraulic clutch set up and I actually like it so I’m keeping it. I was never a fan of the feel but this one you can hardly tell. It’s from American Powertrain.
It wasn’t a shop, he worked out of his house after retiring from Cagnazzi racing. Unfortunately he passed away. He built the motors that put Jeg Cauglin & Jason Line in back to back championships as well as Erica Enders.
Davis, Excellent documentation and pictures, most grateful. I am finally gathering the last needed items for my 69 350 switchover, started as a TH400 to a Super T-10. The only remaining items for me are the metal floor hump, the Hurst shifter arm #5335, and the two center consoles (the "stage two", between the seats console, and the floor trim plate around the shifter arm (with the boot and tach built in).
