I just got my May '06 Hemming Muscle Machines. The OPG ad on page 7 drove me over the edge. I am well aware of all the issues that people have had with OPG regarding advertised items not being in stock, but this is a whole other issue. The ad says "#1 in GM A-body." Nowhere does the four letter (OK, five letter) word "Chevy" appear. However, they advertise "1965-72 headlight bezels--your choice." You think thay have a BUICK headlight bezel? "64 through 72 washer bottles." Are the re-selling the Parts Place's 70 washer bottle? "64-72 Chrome outside mirrors. We manufacture them all." I'd like a 70 Buick passenger side tri-shield mirror, please... "64-77 tail light lenses. We have them all." Oh, really????? Can they not say that all this stuff is "chevy" only because of trademark issues???? This is so beyond false advertising it is incredible!!! I will be contacting Hemmings with this issue!

OK, I admit that this isn't the end of the world, but false advertising IS false advertising!!!! If the stuff is only available for Chevy, say it is for Chevy!!! How many people post on here looking for repro stuff that is not made? Now ten thousand or so folks are gonna read this magazine ad, and many new Buick owners are going to think thay are gonna get this stuff for their Buick. They are going to be disappionted and disillusioned when the find out that these parts are NOT available. It is flat out wrong on OPG's part, and irresponsible on Hemming's part. As much as the Hemmings folks may not know, they should have enough sense to know that the parts in the ad ARE NOT available for ALL A-bodies.
With what they have IN STOCK VS BACK ORDERED, I am supprised at what they DO Sell. I Just wish the parts I ordered on 2/24 would GET HERE!!!!! uzzled: On the Order Sheet, "Out of stock items are TYPICALLY SHIPPED within 10 to 30 days." RIGHT I also asked about getting "Latest Catalog" as I borrowed the one I ordered from (2006 Discount Bla, Bla, Bla) They sent me "their Latest 2005"!! WE WANT YOUR BUSINESS!?!?!?!?!?!?! JR
LOL. I have to say I do sympathize with Nicholas. It is kind of frustrating knowing they are completely full of S**T with their advertising. I mean, now that we know better, we know it's all BS, but the new guy, (which we all were at one time or another), who needs a part and it's advertised as it is, just gets frustrated when they are told, "not in stock" or "national back order" (i.e. not made anymore), or "no, not for your year" or "insert excuse here". When I call these places, I expect to hear all this, so if I hear they do have it, I'm pleasantly surprised. That is until I get the part and find out it's wrong. :error:
ever notice how most of their part #s start with CV? Now you know what the part is really for. It just may fit a Buick as well by coincidence. Unfortunately we in the Buick community have to do our own research to find out what stuff will interchange with Chevy. If you look through their catalog enough you will just scrach your head over some of the stuff they say is for a Buick because you know it isn't right! Hello junkyard! If there are any left.
Nicholas,that is unfortunate. OPG should know better and not mislead people into thinking all the parts for our cars are available. That is deception and it is trickery. Heaven help the poor soul who just got one of these cars and wants to restore it. Is he in for a surprise! :shock:
