Ok - '72 Hunter Green exterior, factory white interior w/black carpets and dash. Now that I'm changing out the non-a/c pad for an a/c pad I'm debating whether I should dye it white or black. It's dark green which, had the top not been so sun faded, could have actully been left alone. Ah, but the simple life remains ever elusive in the restification world... so who's with me on the white :bglasses: ? black :boring: ?
I think a white dashpad would be a bit too much (now watch someone prove me wrong), so I'll vote black. Will prevent the dash from taking too much away from a unique white/black interior.
I'll vote black. It is neutral like white, but will go better with a dark interior (and any color changes you might do in the future).
Stock of course is black, but there was a '70 Stage 1 car made for the show circuit that had an all white interior, including the dash, carpet and steering wheel and column. It was quite striking. It was in Hemmings Muscle Machines Aug. issue. But, unless you intend to change the carpet and kick panels and paint the metal part of the dash to match, I don't think a white pad would look good at all.
