Original transmission? How can I tell?

    I pulled the Turbo 350 out of my 71 Skylark today...

    I found a 7 digit number on the transmission casing.....6260313. VIN? Body tag? It's not even close.


    Little help?

    On a Buick transmission, the VIN should be stamped into the case, on the driver's side of the transmission, near the manual shaft.

    It looks like it's already been swapped previously.

    Thanks Larry.I've had the car for more than 10 years......It's a Skylark Custom..not a GS

    to get a ball park yr with the car in the motor, what size wrench you use for the shifter, if its a 15 wrench than its 80ies,
