On the end of one of the rows I spotted this

I think its a Pontiac, but what kind, I'm not sure.

Thats a TH400 short shaft right?

Well I was about to take it out as only the trans mount was holding it in, then noticed, who ever took the motor cracked a chunk out of the case!!!!!

A trans goes for $115, so I asked at the desk about a deal on this one as I have a long shaft TH400 and basically just wanted the short shaft and tail section.

They still wanted $50 with a cracked case.

He said $30 for the tail shaft alone.
Maybe next weekend, I may go back and if its still there, I'll disassemble on site and just get the shaft and tail.

    Is it worth $30? :dollar:
I dont think Id be able to put it into the TH400 I have... transmissions scare me!

A few rows later, I found another Pontiac with a Buick 350 in it... was this factory?

It looks like a mid-70's Grand Prix. The second one looks a little newer. Late 70's-early 80's.

Cool, the small window in the Red Pontiac, had a decal that said GP so I assumed Grand Prix as well, but was not sure at all. :TU:

Would the steering box out of that Red one fit in a 72? It did not appear to be leaking.

    Hey Curtis,

That steering box should fit - but you ought to consider upgrading to a GN setup for the quicker ratio.

You should grab that hei distributor - it looks pretty nice!

The trans is date coded 1977, must be a '77. The newer GP is an '81 with a transplanted 350. Probably a 3.8 V car originally. It has a rare set of factory 14" wire wheels on it. Used on '79, '80, and '81. Is this the LKQ yard on SR 50 near Bithlo?
