Wayne, did you get your race all set up yet? Date? Time? Location? I know a guy in Texas that wants to give this type of racing a try with his 455 H.O. GTO.
Already? Is this 455 HO GTO bright green with wet paint?  So what mag and what issue this time?
Yep, I've got a date, it's October 16th at Tulsa Raceway Park. Check it out at musclecargrudgematch.com for more info. I've decided to let in late model, American made, rear wheel drive cars, to get the car count up, but I do have a "Stock Appearing Incentive Plan!!!" :Brow: :beer :3gears: The quick 8 cars get paid to qualify and they're run on a ladder. The rest of the field runs 2 outa 3, with money going to the quickest and 2nd quickest pre '74 cars running on hard tires, through manifolds, without power adders, and a dual plane or factory appearing crossram intake. Wayne
Hey Tom, are you up for a tow to Tulsa with one of your Hot Rod Pontiac's!!! I'd sure like to have you down here Laying the Smack Down! :TU: Wayne
It sounds like a blast,but........ Money is a little thin currently, job slow, second child on the way, etc. I don't see me doing much this year beside's saving my pennies :ball: Hopefully next year things will turn around, but I doubt that unless our President grows a pair and gets rid of NAFTA, and starts looking out for the good ole USA.We need some manufacturing here in the States if this country is going to survive much longer  Sorry about the political soapbox crap, I just hate the thought of Americans having to learn how to speak Chinese to say "Yes Master" Anyway, good luck with the race, I hope you have a strong showing out your way :TU: Another event to expose people to this type of racing is great :3gears:
Congrats on the new Bambino in the oven!!! :TU: :beer That's awesome! I've got a 7, 4, and 2 year old and it's the best thing that's ever happened to me!!! Wayne
Hey Wayne: I'm the Texas guy who Tom is telling you about! Looking at the rules for your event, no way either of my cars will be competitive, but it will be loads of fun nonetheless. I'm gonna TRY to make it with both my Lucy Blue Formula and my GTO. My Formula has run 12.90's in rather poor air at the Pontiac Southern Nationals for three years running, but the racing conditions have been unfavorable. That was on sticky DOT tires, though. If not traction limited too much with your "hard tires" rule, I hope to improve the Formula's performance with some tuning, plus my new Tom Hand/PYPES crossflow exhaust system, and hopefully better air! Just purchased the GTO, dunno if I'll even make it to the track before your event to even see what it runs, LOL! Please, send me the pre-registration info and I'll get it back to you ASAP. Here's one pic each of my GTO and my Formula. Many thanks for holding an event of this type within a reasonable distance of Houston.
Hey Wayne, I know Lloyd from another forum, and his cars ARE show-quality!! And fast too!! :TU: Whats up there Lloyd!
That's what's so cool about these Events, if you aren't in the quick 8, you will have a close race with either the next car slower or quicker than you. So, the more cars that show up, the closer the field will be. And let me tell you, being in the quick 8 isn't all it's cracked up to be. Number 8 qualifier gets to run the number 1 qualifier!!! Personaly, I'd rather be number 9 qualifier and get to run number 10 qualifier, in a 2 out of 3 shoot out, so, at least that way, you get a close race. :TU: You will have a good time. :beer Wayne
Something you may want to try for the quick 8 is what we did in Martin. 1 vs 5 2 vs 6 3 vs7 4 vs 8 It makes for a little closer racing and gives the # 7 and # 8 guys a fighting chance. Peter
Hey Pete, congrats on the Martin event, I heard you were running most of the show and it was a success
I'll have to do that. :beer The other way is how they ran it at Lebanon Valley, and I felt sorry for number 7 and number 8 qualifiers. :TU: Wayne
