This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Paint and Body basics

Discussion in 'Color is everything!' started by Uncle Pauly, Jan 3, 2006.

    Uncle Pauly SAY UNCLE!

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any type of continuing education for basic paint and body work in the Maryland area? I did google searches, but came up empty. I have never tried this stuff before, and I was hoping for a hands on head start before I lay into my Skylark. I know I can do it, just want some basic practical, physical instruction. I can read and read, but that doesn't really give me a tactile feel for things.

OR.............should I just frickin do it?

    Any local experts?

    Thanks for your time, Paul

I have two suggestions. Firstly, do you have any friends or acquaintances in the paint and body trade? Ask around to your other car buds or cruise night regulars. You may be able to join up for some hands on on someone else's project, either at a real shop, or at someone's home garage if they moonlight, which they probably do. Volunteer to tape, sand, clean, etc. to get a foot in the door. Secondly, plenty of local votech schools have adult classes. Check into these. Most are readily affordable, and offer a good mix of talent levels. You might also introduce yourself to the local high school votech instructor and ask if you can volunteer, help, watch, etc. some of the classes. I don't know what you do for a living or who you work for, but that could be a way into the high school classes. Most local schoolboards are strapped for cash or goods, and a sponsorhip of some sort on the part of your business could be the "in" you need. Hope that helps. Thanks, Rudy E
