Can anyone recommend a paint formula for 1970 code 48 Sherwood Green.

The readings taken from the trunk hinges resulted in a paint that looked too silver, and those from the door jams resulted in a color that looked too yellow.

We want to use a high quality multi-stage paint, and want the color to be as close to original as possible. If we can get some formula numbers, we can have a few pints mixed and compare the results.

    Thanks in advance.....Jim

You can NOT use new paint and compare it to old/original paint. After 35+ years of aging, the old paint is not going to be the same regardless of location. Visit www.autocolorlibrary.com to get the correct WA code and then have someone mix it. If you are trying to blend in a qtr panel or area, that will have to be done by eye in the natural sunlight. Definitely an art to it.

    Jim,
I would recommend either R-M Diamont or Glasurit b/c which are both made by BASF. It can be looked up with either of these numbers : WA 3970 or #2269.
My dad has been using R-M in his bodyshop for over 12 years with excellent results.
In fact I mixed up some of that color several years ago to do a sprayout for a friend of mine who was restoring a Stage 1 4 spd. conv.
I should have some sitting here that I could do another sprayout with if you need it.
