I saw this weird looking thing like a Lotus espirit or something ahead of me about 1/4 mile.
2 people were in it and cruising in the right hand lane.
I had another person in my car as well. I caught up to him and floored it real quick for fun. We were already doing about 40 mph. When he downshifted he literally smoked his 17 inch Z rated tires... I tried to keep up with him but to no avail. I met up with him at the next light and it turned green before i even got next to him but he waited for me. Nobody behind us anylonger we took our time .. I mashed it and felt like i was going in reverse this guys car was soo freakin fast it isn't funny. Well he stoppped at the 4 way stop sign 4 miles down wind and asked what i Had I told him 350 w/ 2bll LOL he replied with oh thats why..I thought you had a GS. [because of the shark gills i guess.] :Do No: he yells hell man u need some more induction she sounds great tho..
I felt like sucha peon!! LOL I got to see a car I havent seen for years tear it up tho.. My car may not be superfast but my jedi mindtricks are still strong!! LOL

Don't feel bad, there is no shame in losing to a race car. It sounds like it was a pretty nice interaction too - the guy knows what a GS is and probably appreciates all cars, unlike some jerks who talk the talk win or lose.

What's a Panterra???? is that some sort of exotic Euro race car??

When I read the title, I thought it had to do with the band (Fitting since they're a heavy metal band...lol)

It's allways cool racing something Exotic, win or lose.

PS.. was the guy driving dressed like a "cowboy from hell"?? :Dou:

Isn't a Panterra a kit car with a Ford 351C in it? Looks Euro-sports-like, like 69cloner says, an Espirit or something.

'71buickg.s. a dark and stormy night..

When we lived in texas, the big bad manager at a burger king drove a red one with a goofy wing (didnt look aftermarket) and some old cragars.... i found out he didnt much like regal tail lights  wasnt a happy guy after being beaten by a bench seat rusty grandma car... Theyre cool cars though.. seen a few at shows.. imagine how one would run with a gn motor!

yeah the car was wicked nasty and had a very mean growl like buick motors do with dual ex. He was very nice and yes he did expect a better race.
Someday soon I will be able to provide him with one.
Everyday in Pasadena Md there is something new on the streets i haven't seen before or in a long time. This is an exciting area for car enthusiests and that by far was the most evil sounding FORD eng i've ever heard.
I told the story to the guy who sells me parts and he knows this guy with the panterra. He says wehn Mr.Panterra mashes motor at night time you actually see flames coming out of his exhaust using pump gas.

p.s. a tidbit of trivia to wow you!!
IT seems that 20 yr old college girls [ in Annapolis] know what Buick GS 's are.. LOL
I drove down to the naval academy to see the blue angels for the middy's graduation and a cute young college cutie asked me if it was a GS.
I said I WISH..LOL she said she loves my car but please don't repaint it brown LOLOLOL seems girls love my car too but don't care for the turd browness..

An interesting article on classic cars and even a dentist owned panterra!!

Banzai Runner looks almost as bad as Wraith....CAN'T be as bad as Wraith, though, cause it has a plot, guys who can act (kind of), REAL exotic cars, and Ron Howard's little brother isn't in it. Dan

    Here's another rare pantera option

Thought you guys might like to see another option on a Pantera.

I think this would have sold a few more models for de tomaso. If not a buick, at least it is my second option. :pp Great on gas mileage too.LOL

That hemi idea is a BAD one. The 351 gave it big block grunt with small block revs. The 351 also gave it nice balance. A friend of mine had one with a Boss 351 in it, and it was truly wicked both on the dtreet, and on the highway. Dan

    Panteras

They are wicked little cars. We have a little car club at JPMorgan Chase (where I work) and a buddy has a nice one. Those 351s can really sing when tuned right.

Ran onto this thread and had to laugh. I may be one of very few who have both a Buick and a Pantera. I'm on my second Pantera, after selling the first one for a ridiculously high price last year. But in the meantime I bought the '56 Century, which is currently an old school cruiser that can carry four+ people (can't do that in a Pantera).

The Panteras are beasts! Even the stock 351C's will throw your head back. Somewhat unstable though, I've swapped ends with one twice now and that will pucker your shorts. I'd love to go heads up with a Stage 1 sometime, just to see what would happen. Here's pics of the Buick and the Pantera (I currently have a yellow one).

Here's to two great automobiles :beer
