Geez! Bucket-freakin' seats in a '72 Electra? Is there an extra set of seat belts for the center/middle front? Or, just seat belts mounted for two buckets? An SCO car maybe? Is the driver's seat power?

O.k., Rusty, a little research shows that at least '75 and '76 Park Avenues were available with a BUCKET SEAT option and a center console (non-operating/shifting) ... don't know about earlier year Electras ...

Those are the same exact seats and color I have in mine. Definitely factory installed. Do you still have the drivers' seat?

Sorry I am so late to this thread but you know how it goes. Things drop off between visits. The interior- I assume you still have the front seats, rear seat and door panels. I would hate to see those buckets crushed. I would have been on this a long time ago. I don't own a 72 Electra right now but this would be a perfect situation to build a car around the buckets.

Are the door panels in decent condition or are they toast? If a person purchased the front buckets it makes a lot more sense to buy the matching stuff such as the back seat because it would be almost impossible to find a match.

I would be interested in the front seats/rear seat and all 4 interior door panels. Obviously, I would need the tracks and power on the front seats. May not be worth your time, I have checked my purchasing budget and have a spare $100 for you to pull those parts and then will figure out how to pick up or ship after you crush the carcuss. I am in Iowa.

I own a 73 Electra, a 73 Centurion, 70 Wildcat and have owned 20 71-73 Buicks the last 15 years so I love this period. If we can work a deal, then the next step would be to find a restorable 72 Electra Limited 2 door. I found one in Columbia Missouri the other day.

I know you probably want more then the $100 but this won't effect crusher price and I just purchased a 73 Electra and 1990 Buick Reatta so am a bit tapped out and between paychecks. Up to you, but HAD to offer to save what is probably one of the last few bucket seat options on the 72. I have a 72 Buick catalog and plan on checking whether there is wording in it referencing the buckets.

    Thanks

If it came with buckets, which were NOT an option on 72 Electra's, on the data plate on right upper firewall (can be seen when hood is raised by looking in at the back right corner) it would without doubt be an SCO (Special Customer Order) car and where the number for trim is located there would be the letters SCO. If that is not present then chances of it having been some sort of a special order are slim to non - even if it was a special made up for GM brass it still would have an SCO or something similar. Also pull the back seat and see if you can find the build sheet, it would also provide some clues.

I see some other "liberties" taken with the car such as the exhaust tips, power rear antenna and of course the chrome Buick wheels added to the car that would make me sceptical on the seats being originally in the car.

another observation, there is only trim on the outer side of the seats not the inner side thus pointing toward the seat bottoms coming from a car with a console.

By the time I saw you were interested in buckets car had been loaded and interior filled with scrap metal. I was going to pull and save the buckets but my son talked me out of doing so because of no interest in over year of advertising.:Dou: I hate wasting any Buick parts, next time I will pull them;uphostery was not that nice if that helps.

    Rusty,

No issues man. A couple of us hashed over this one pretty well. Your son was correct. If no interest in over a year from all the full sizers on the forum, then let her go.

Pulling seats, door panels etc takes time, and your time is money.

Also, the rare factor of the seats would have to have been verified by an SCO (like COPO) somewhere on the car. That may or may not have been fun to locate. Then, the application of the seats is specific to that car. So, IF the car was a savable project, then it would be a shame to crush. BUT, you said it had been smashed in the rear.

Not like this was a uber-rare GS Skylark with racing or celebrity ownership provenance. Technically putting those seats in another 72 Electra 2 door coupe would not make the car an "SCO". I enjoyed the process of hashing this one out, thanks for updating or I never would have known about the correctness of this application.
