Well--I got the clock out and went to hook up the tach but the DIRECTIONS don't work---BLACK wire is ground- ok---NO orange wire???--two BROWN wires are for tach illumination-NOT for connection to the coil--TWO connector plug does NOT match up withe two connector on the clock. The 2 brown wires will ulliminate tach when grounded but WHAT goes to the coil?? o No: Thanks for any help,Pete
You don't use the clock wiring. The tach will need to use the splices from Radio Shack for the bulbs provided with the tach. The splices are called wire tap-ins. The black wire goes to ground, the brown wire goes to the neg side of coil. You should have a two female plug for the back of the tach. If you don't have one, make one or have PP send you one.
George--check out the pic -the brown wires lite two bulbs, the black is the ground. Can I run a wire off each PRONG? One to the neg side of the coil and another to a "switched" part of the 12 V system? Pete
You splice in the light wires to the original gray clock wires. The prongs are for the tach operation......one goes to neg side of the coil and the other goes to ground(not to any voltage). You can run a new ground wire from the tang for the tach to the metal dash structure.
Thanks George!!! Comes in handy being able to LINK a pic-- because I could NEVER have explained WHAT was going on!! Pete-- Also your helps about loosening the dash worked out pretty good so I could REMOVE the clock without breaking anything EXCEPT my skin!!
Tach is WORKING :beer Will finish putting the dash back together tomoorow---Thanks George and this board!! Pete
