    passanger's floor always wet.

I've read a few places where the leak is when the pass floor is wet but I can't seem to find it via search. what are causes of a leak that make the floor wet on the pass. side. and how to I see where the leak is coming from.

Check the cowl at the base of the windshield to see if it is rusted through, you may have to pull the trim plate off to check for rust or you may be able to see rust between the windshield and dash. I had a '68 GS that the floor would get wet and it turned out to be coming from the cowl area.

Without the engine running spray water arounf the back of the hood crack. If the water shows in the floorboard then it is likely that your seam sealer is dry rotted and needs repalcing. Usually it needs it around the side of cowl requiring removal of the fender.

If it only does it with the engine running I would say it is in the heater core.

Another possibility is around the base of the windshield.

there is a reciept repairing the cowl under the windshield at a body shop in the past. could be leaking again. the firewall sealant sounds like a good idea to check. if i recall it was very dry and a lot of it had fallen off. (I just replaced the heater core 1.5 yrs ago and I know what that leak is like.)
    thanks guys.

nope haven't had the chance to look. i'm pretty sure it's the seam sealant though. it's not a bad leak but I rember whiping off dry sealant chunks when I did the heater core. and i have a reciept for the cowl being fixed in the past at a body shop from the previous owner.

chris im 95% sure it's the lack of seam sealant. there is basicly none in that entire portion of the car. darn old stuff.

    Nate,
Make sure you remove the carpet and inspect the floorpan.
If you have rust forming, clean the area thoroughly with a wire brush and then apply some Ospho/Phosphoric acid. I usually cover the entire floorpans with a thin coat of rubberized undercoating for the reason you stated. Prevents surface rust from forming. You can get the acid from Home Depot as pictured below.
