phillips screws

    So you have a new carpet and a set of rocker moldings to install in your ride but,you look at the screws holding the trim on and the phillips screws are filled with dirt and rust ,and you recall the last time the phillips head stripped out. What to do? the tools needed are 1) a small pick or something that you can clean the Phillips screw head out with. 2) a Phillips screw driver. 3) valve grinding compound (water based at napa etc.) After the head is cleaned out push the valve compound into the head, put the screw driver in the screw and wiggle it to give it a "bite". Turn to remove screw, one of two things will happen 1 screw will come out. 2 head will snap off. After parts are removed use a vice grip to clamp the broken screw and twist out. A tap with a hammer may also help. This also works on some rounded bolt heads. RustyRiv...
