Austin, 73Stage2 is interested in your pistons and is asking for specs on them. I though he was posting me, and I replied to him but not with any specs. VET
My pistons for sale, are not cast, not forged, but hypereutectic. They are made by pouring metal in a mold, as cast pistons are. The difference is the aluminum has different properties than plain cast. Has more silica they say. I was always a forged or nothing else guy. GM and others starting using hypereutectic in their turbo charged regals, Grand Nationals. They take a lot of abuse in these turbo charged, V6 motors. Ask me how I know. They can be set up with tighter clearances, which helps several things, for a street driven, track, occasionally car. If your a 100% track guy, maximum effort, turbo charge, nitro, etc. Get forged for sure. There are several online sources that say a lot about pistons and there use. Rings size, this should come from the shop who will be boring the block, in my opinion. I assume they were not supplied with rings due to the wide array of different types. Let the end user make that decision on ring type. Compression ratio. The KB catalog pages, that Stage2 Iron posted are a good source for helping you tell what your CP, will end up with. They says in the catalog the CR should be the same as stock, 1970, high compression motor. 10.5 rated, 9.5 actual. As this entire thread has shown, a lot of variables are in play. A good machine shop, that is doing the motor work can be the final answer or CR. I have added another pic of the pistons. This is from an angle, showing these are flat top pistons with the valve reliefs cut out.
I'm pretty sure these are not forged.......they look just like the speed pro part still available today that used standard rings, has a 23 dish and a piston height of 1.985. On a true 10.57 deck height on a stk rod you should be about .035 in the hole
Great deal on these pistons whatever compression ratio, they are, try paying $1200 for a new set a RaceTec Pistons.
