POA valves fail full open or full closed?

Any reason mine would be partially open? I tested mine and can get 10psi moving through it but nothing more. I tested it on the car with the suction side unhooked and the low side manifold gauge set hooked up. I had my air compressor set at about 40 psi and used an air gun to shoot air through the evap into the POA. All POA connections were still in place.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    thank you

It's possible that it is stuck. Mine was and would physically freeze on the outside and the AC would not blow cold when the compressor was turned on. I had to give it a good whack with a hammer handle when the system was running. Once the system got flowing good with oil and refrigerant it has worked fine ever since. Before that it had set for many years unused.

Chris, I had the same issue.. it would freeze just after the "gate" inside of it... is that how yours was? To me this said that the POA was the primary restriction location instead of the Thermal Expansion valve so that's why it was chilling instead of the evap which is after the TXV. I haven't had my AC running in a decade at least and now that I live in FL I figure I need it lol. I may try to hit it and see if that works, I have it pulled off and in some AC Flush solvent to see if maybe something was gunked up in there. Here is a pic of what mine looked like before, is that how yours looked?
