Hi, It's a nice day today so I take the car out for a spin and decide to stretch it's legs on the highway.

Anyway, there is this "kid" is behind me on Rt. 18 and because of construction, it's tough to pass anyone getting close to the highway. So he must be in a hurry 'cause he's really riding my ass.

As I turn to the onramp, which is 2 lanes all the way up to the highway, I here Subaru-boy downshift to try and blow by me. Not a chance of that happending. I wound it up to about 100 or so and then backed down to 70 for my cruise.

He eventually comes and gives me the ricer flyby like he won the race. That's when I noticed his license plate and the reason for the title of this thread.

His plate was "EATSV8S" (eats V8's).

HAH, nah, I dont have a vanity license plate and to my recollection, I wasn't in OH this past weekend.

WRX's can be made fast, but the majority of them run high 13's at best.

Mine is in the low 13's, and it sucks at "Highway Style" racing... since its built for rally (4.44 gears in all three LOCKING differentials). The regular WRX's have 3.9's in all 3... a bit better on the highway, but no match for Phil's car unless its one of those low 11 second strip beasts.

Besides, I dont do the ricer flyby... I slow down and give the thumbs up when I get beat (haven't met any real competition), or when someone keeps up (not the most current, but the previous gen supercharged Lighting on the highway)... I try to get next to them and give them the big :TU:. I'd be honored to get stomped by Phils car.

By the way, one just dyno'd at 597HP at all 4 wheels... and runs mid 10's on the stock drivetrain (a feat, if you know regular WRX spaghetti transmissions... the STi transmission is totally different and uses Hardened steel... supposed to support ~500hp reliably on a daily bases)

    :TU: Good Job Phil :TU:

I did a similar thing to a 350Z the other day.....he's behind me (on my arse) on the entrance ramp - as soon as its clear he swings wide into the left lane to do the fly-by....I nailed it, put my blinker on, and merged properly into the right lane.....at about 100mph

He was about 8 car lengths behind :moonu:

I stomped a STI version last summer. It did take off really quickly but was retired quickly in second gear by my 71'.

I was impressed and looked up the WRX sti on the Web. That's the first time I realized what they where. At least they arn't scared to get stomped.

Just so you know, STi's run 13.3 in the quarter at around 108, with 1.6sec 60ft times.

I'm not scared AT ALL to get stomped on a bit... in fact... I enjoy it once in a while. It sucks (sometimes) being faster than all the big winged civics around (here, to cover my bases... although I AM slower than quite a few of my import friends  ). AS I've said before... the muscle car guys just give me thumbs up and follow me into gas stations to ask me about that "Big winged import they saw at the dealership".

Definitely one of the better cars being made today. I guess I would call it maybe one of the few true jap muscle cars. The old 240Z is still my favorite Jap car of all time.

They still don't last long against a 12.20 driver buick:bglasses:

David, you'd like my latest project, SBC into my 73 240z. I'll post some pictures (and some timeslips) when I'm finished- Best of both worlds!
