Possible vapor lock

After just getting my 70 model 350 Skylark with a stock Qjet on the road I've got a problem. Twice now after the motor is well warmed up but not overheating, it will die during idle and then not start again for 15-20 minutes. I assume it's heat related and am suspecting it may be vapor lock. I also have a Pertronics I ignition but I've had a lot of experience with them and never had an issue. Is vapor lock a common problem and if so what is the best cure?

    Thanks in advance

ive heard you can put wooden clothespins on your metal fuel line. and make sure your return line isnt plugged and make sure your fuel lines are routed away from the exhaust.check your timing and vacuum at idle warmed up and report back.

how does it crank whenever its warm and wont start.. is it a ... errrclunk errrclunk sound like the battery is dead? or does it crank just fine but wont hardly get fuel?

The starter is strong just no start till it cools down. The fuel line setup is stock with the steel line coming up the front of the motor so it's not close to the exhaust. I do remember the clothes pin trick and may have to try it.

When it acts up, pull the air cleaner off and pump it a few times to see if it's getting fuel. If so, it's not vapor lock and is more likely to be ignition. The next step, of course, would be to check for spark. If no spark then I'd be looking at the coil as the culprit.

Phil It really *is* a 350...

Or... the plugs on the bottom of the Q-Jet are leaking into the intake after the car warms up, leaving the fuel bowl dry.

Do you have three lines to your fuel pump? In 1970 that was typical only on AC cars, iirc. You should not have vapor lock with a fuel pump return line, as it is recirculating some fuel and keeping it cool at the pump...unless it is restricted. Does it blow black/blue smoke when it finally does start? Could be the plugs in the carb, as stated before, leaking and flooding the engine.
