i think dan and bob both did a very good job to pull that one off with the rain on friday.i would have liked to have the shoot-out also but with 4 runs on friday i don't think that was enough.from friday to saturday i dropped a full.5 and gained 2mph just with tuning which 2 hours on friday is not enough .the only complaint i have is some people when they broke into the next bracket they DID NOT MOVE TO IT like they should have

I still had a good time, but we need the shootouts. Talking to different spectators, they thought it got old fast. They got to see more racing, but it lacked the excitement.
I was more than a little disappointed that the track kicked us out as 6 on Friday. I thought maybe they had a regular program that we had to move for, but they did not. The track sat idle till the next morning, other than Team Mopar wrenching till midnight. Dan and Bob have rented the track for close to 10 years, and you would think they would give them the required time. We could hace raced till 8 or 9 on Friday, and then we could have had the 2 outta 3 shootouts. Too bad, cause with record attendance, it would have been better to keep the excitement up so they would wanna come back next year!

I will try to be more enthused. As for the volume, blame it on the PA system.

Did the drivers give you enough to work with on their spec. cards?

I don't know Diego, but I can't imagine you doing a "Monster Truck"/WWF style of commentary. Then again, behind that mild mannered exterior ... who knows. Say it with me:
Llllllllllllet's get ready to Rumbllllllllllllllllle.......!!!!!!! :3gears:

Yes, for the most part. A few omitted some key info, and both L88 cars called their hp "435" which is incorrect. I saw the L88 hoods but thought they were retrofitted.

I'm not really mild-mannered. I'm just "chill". Having grown up in NJ, I can be surly when I needd to.

What Diego might lack in "showmanship", he more than makes up with his knowledge of musclecars. :TU:

I, for one, really appreciate Diego's "dulcet tones." The last thing I want is is some jerk screaming at me all day long over a loud PA system, trying to create excitment with his "personality." Diego's got it just right. :TU:

Had a GREAt TIME :TU: The pacecar went faster thanks to new gears and a new exhaust. The GTO went slower thanks to a weak valve springs :af: but can,t wait till next year. should have the 1970 Chevelle LS5 Conv. there..............with my wife driving it. :bglasses: i

In my humble opinion, the shootout must be a part of this party. I like the idea of the time slotting for qualifying, adds a bit of spice. I understand time and lane constraints (tech with all of the lanes full would be a bear) but, it makes for some fun racing. The build up of the shootout was definately missed by this sports fan! I guess what I am saying is that in a perfect world it would be slotted qualifying and shootout Saturday. :3gears:

After having read all the other comments, I guess, I also agree, some of the Buick camp agrees that we need to do the 2/3 thing, but all in all was a good time, the thrill of racing and whipping on a selected car is more fun, for sure. Wasn't a cheap weekend, when you consider the admission and $20 in racing fuel not to race, though, but all in all, considering the weather, what the heck!
The restuarant in Edmore, Maxfield's Friends Pub, had all you could eat broasted chicken, perch, and cod, and cole slaw to die for, potatoes and all for $7.95 and if you stayed at Maxfield Inn in Edmore you got a $1 off dinner, it was great! The Sparty Family, Steve('72 Blue GSX) and Jim R('70 GS 455 Brown) and I enjoyed that place on Friday night!

frank , must be a smallblock thing :moonu: , we had the same thing happen yesterday with a 68 340 gts , corbin clamp on the bypass hose came off , he hosed the entire track , the track didn't catch it and the next racer in line tapped the wall ...

i saw the gts go by me when i was coming up the return road and saw the water spraying out under the car . i tried to get up fast enough to stop the next run but got yelled at for driving to fast up the return road over the PA system , maybe i should have gotten out of the car and jumped over the wall ???

it would not be the first time someone jumped the wall for safty sake.steve rehberg did it a few years ago when a broken drive shaft catapulted a cutlass at the pure stocks in mich.i think it is everyones duty when they see a potential problem for saftey to do what ever it takes to stop the race.our local track here in my area was closed for several years due to not being able to get ins and other problems.it was finally re-opened 3-5 years ago

ed i agree its everyones job to make sure the racing is SAFE , a few years ago i ratted a guy out to the tech guys after they missed the fact that his car was leaking oil like a stuck pig. he parked it on the dirt so they wouldn't notice the stain while they were looking at it ... i first said something to the guy with the car and he didn't care that the thing was leaking , that really :af: me ...
