Well' today we go before the Judge to see if I can get custody of my daughter Sarah...The last week or so I have been on a roller coaster ride finding out Sarah was so upset she ran away from her mothers house and she quit taking her medicines.I was then told she was put in a hospital and since then we have decided she would be better off if she would live here.My Ex decided she needs the child support money for her to live on and is trying to stop her from coming here.I went to pick up Sarah's belongings and was mystified that almost 600 a month bought you 3 pair of pants and 3 pair of shoes and not much of anything else.I do know it will pay for a 600 a month rent payment.Sarah has been so upset living there that she can't take it anymore.I face the Judge at 2 pm to see where we will stand..Pease keep Sarah and us in your prayers... Prayers going out to you for custody of your daughter. My cousin did the same thing with his son. I hate to hear about things like this.

Well...I went to see the judge and was totally honest in all answers but,my ex decided that there was a better way to get what you want.It seemed to be going well for a while then the judge turned it totally against me and ruled in her favor.It was the worst heartwrenching thing I had to do to tell a 14 year old she wasn't allowed to come home with me.She had to immediately leave from my house to go to her moms or be faced with being sent to juvenile home.I guess I will not be able to enjoy my fathers day with my 2 girls afterall...It goes to show how character and honesty is being exchanged for decency and honesty...Thank you all my fellow friends who kept us in their thoughts and prayers as we All appreciate it from my friends here. Pat DO NOT GIVE UP! Just because you lost today does not mean that God is not with you or in control. He will always be faithful. He will always be there for you, and He is working this out in His own time, even though that seems to suck big time right now. I too will be praying for you and your situation. Carl
Pat, You are in my prayers. Also, if I can offer some advice/suggestions as a father who was able to get custody of his 2 children in the past. I don't know how things work in PA, but in NY you can get a law guardian appointed by the court as an advocate for the children. His/Her goal is to protect the children's rights in divorce/custody issues. In my case, my daugther (12/13 at the time) had issues with her mother and refused to live with her. She was at the point of threatening to run away as well. The law guardian who was appointed took her position seriously and listened. He was convinced that it was in her best interests to live with me. He also took the position that it was not wise to separate her from her brother (8/9 at the time) who had no preference where he lived. There were some other issues (my ex was/still is nuts), but the result was that I gained custody of both of them. A judge is more likely to listen to the suggestions of a law guardian as opposed to a father (that's another story). Fathers have few, if any, rights. Damm that sucks. Sorry to hear that Pat. Some Judges dont deserve to sit on a bench. :blast: I would think that at age 14 your daughter sould be able to make her own decision.
Pat, I am a single dad,have been for many years,but I was truly blessed when my ex wife called me one day and told me she was giving up custody of our son because she knew she could not care for him.
