Press in lug studs: Can you pound them in with a hammer?

    I've put the studs in a our freezer over night. And wamed the hub up a bit. Tapped them in. Seemed to help. Wife...not so much.

    The wife doesn't like being in the freezer overnight Guy:rolleyes:? What a debi downer:p:D

    I will add that while it is best to use a press, you can use two hammers to install them.. use a body hammer that has two flat sides, and then a hit that with your 3 lbs hammer, instead of hitting the studs directly with the hammer, which tend to make a mess out of the head of the stud.

    Of course, press or hammer driving, proper support around the area of the flange your working with is the key to a successful install.

    I have drawn them in before, but never cared for that method. Easy to damage the stud if you don't use the proper lubrication, and don't freeze the stud first to shrink it down a touch.
