This first car is the oldest finished car that I have, all others ended up as spare parts. This is built from several kits including the old Barris Riv, one of the injected nailheads from the old Ivo Showboat dragster and some great tires and chassis parts from an older Revell Thunderbird prostreet that I stretched to the correct length.
This is a much more recent car. The old Revell T-bird was again caniballized for its prime chassis bit and tire and wheels. The body is from the Monogram '69 Riv along with the main engine bits, The blower and carbs are from a Monogram Chevelle and the headers came from a Pro stock '57 Chevy.
Sorry no under hood detail shots yet. I can't seem to get a good closeup with this stupid digital camera.
In the shot of the diorama the car on the left is the Accurate Miniatures Mclaren M8D. That was the toughest kit i have ever built. If you liked the old Can Am series try Road America's " Brian Redman International Challenge " every July. Most years there is a huge Can Am feature.
Sweet! You'd probably appreciate my '65 Riv, then. I used a '65 Chevelle Pro Street Chassis, modified to fit under the Riv body, and I used a Dual Quad 455 from an extra GSX kit that I had!:bglasses:
The '69 is a great all business bad boy! Looks especially tuff from the rear shot with those big tires tucked up in there! Awesome workmanship!
I have always thought that the 68-69 Riviera was the meanest loking car on earth, particularly from the back. That car was born to be black.
Very cool Riv's man! I especially like the '69! I never gave them a thought for a Pro/Streeter but that black '69 is a bad-ass natural! Just one minor correction - that's AMT's kit, as opposed to Monogram's. Right? Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing! Bob Kremer
Yes, you are correct. I still have the box and I also have the '66 Riv that is still a work in progress. They are both by AMT. Both of these cars have terrifically detailed engines for the money and are a great starting point for customs.
