Hi, Is there some sort of code or number stamped in the body or frame on my 66 GS CONV. SKYLARK 4spd. that can tell me the exact production number of my car? (would be nice to have number 1 of the 431 made in 66 :Brow: ) The tag on the firewall gives the number ST 66-44667FL1 209349 body So is the 209349 the production number??? How can I find out what number mine is of the 431 build??? o No: If so - where can this number be found? Dan :beer
Not a whole lot of help here, but I do not think your car is very early... The first place to start is the build date on your cowl tag (the same place you found your body number.) There should be a three digit code for the build date. Two numbers for the month--01-12. One letter indicates the week of the month, i.e. first week of September is 09A, second week of October is 10B, etc. Production began about August/September of the previous year, so an "early" 66 would have a build date of 09A, meaning September of 1965. There is no numeric sequence for a given model. Body numbers USUALLY get higher over the model year (there are exceptions for special option cars), and VINs get higher over time, (talking about the last six digits here) but are not model-specific, just whatever cars were built at that plant. There is a date code on the frame too, (and almost everything else on the car!) but going by the build date on the cowl tag is easier and will tell you what you need to know. If you want to find the date code on the frame contact "Duane" on this board and buy his date code book (shameless plug!)
here are the cowl tag numbers: ST 66-44667FL1 209349 body TR 29 G-B A-2 W 2 LE 5Y does it give any info on my builddate ???
How could I miss those numbers ou: thanks Brad! :TU: Now I only need to find out which number mine is out of the 431 made :Brow: Dan :3gears:
