Professional auto to manual conversion ?

Discussion in 'U-shift em' started by sweeneyssabres, Sep 27, 2005.

  1. To make a long story short:
I am a manual tranny freak but they only made my favorite oldie (1970 LeSabre convt., 350) as automatic.
I already had the original 3 speed changed to a overdrive tranny (what a mistake :af: ), so now I would really like to change it over to manual.
Reading all your posts makes me cry :ball: because I am too mechanically challenged for the task.
    My question:

Does anybody know of someone/company who might be able to do the conversion for me, doesnt have to be concourse quality, "just" solid.
I realize the magnitude of the project.
Would be grateful for any help or pointers.

I don't have anyone that I could recomend to do the job, but you might want to look into race car / chassis fabricator shops.

I would think the best option for a big Buick would be to get a pedal set from a big Chevy, and have someone fabricate brackets and modify the pedal to accept a hydraulic clutch system. There is a very good thread on hydraulic clutches over here. You might be able to take it to a fabricator and see what they say.

Expect to pay big $$$. :3gears:
