Wow. You ran too much gear with the 4.56's?? I am still about 500-700 rpm short at the line so I was thinking of stepping up from my 3.91's. Running the usual on-line gear calculator shows I should be OK with a set of 4.30's. I saw a set of 4.56's for sale at a local swap meet last week and almost picked up that center section. Glad I didn't. Shannon: The stock tire height is closer to 26 1/2" with the 205R70-14's. Is a redline E70-14 more than an inch shorter?? I have a set of 235R-14 on 14x7 rims that measure 24 1/2" tall. I'll have to look up what those differences in tire height come out to in RPM's. :Smarty:
Well at 3110, and a 200 pound driver.........guess I need to put myself on a diet too!!! A few less cheeseburgers for sure, as for the car not sure where to start lightening. They probably look for any ballast huh.
They don't really look for ballast but they do weigh all the cars once during time trials. Just need to find an out of work jockey to drive your car. Also, Goodyear Polyglas or Firestone Wide Oval reproduction bias plys give better bite than radials, if you're going to be buying tires. E70x14 is 25.7" tall.
Rob Thomas has never been known to turn down being asked to be a hired gun. There is no one better for consistency (and about 1/2 what I weigh) 3110? I thought only Hornets were that light.
I had a fully gutted out 67 dart that was a dragcar that wieght 2950 and 3150 with me in it. Do you need a driver license to race??...my son weighs in at 60 lbs...but he's only 8. :Brow:
When I am teching in cars I look for ballast or missing items that are in appropriate for the model year, ie. heater deletes on cars newer than 1969 when it was a federal mandate that all cars have a heater. Dum dum delete on cars that it was not available... Mark
Dayum.....wish mine was only 200#........   Anybody ever looked into a minimum weight for the type of car? Still easy to get around just like they used on on Stock Eliminator cars by moving it around (from front to rear). We have a lot of data now on just about anything that comes along excepting maybe another Mercury.
Really? What's the shipping weight of a '57 Ford Custom 300 with V8 and OD? NCRA (National Chevrolet Racing Association) has no records of the car. Remember the ten year rule? Only Chevy records were kept.o No:
Right here, in my formerly nicotine stained fingers, I have a genuine NHRA Stock Car Classification Guide dated 1969. It lists a 1957 Ford V8 Custom 300 2 door sedan (6 passenger) as having a shipping weight of 3283 pounds. Online NHRA only goes back to 1960 on Fords, but you just can't beat paper.
I believe that should read "cars newer than 1968", or "1969 and newer cars"! LOL!! Also, John, I have an extra Classification Guide now if you know anyone that might be interested in it...I managed to find a MINT one a while back to replace my beat up guide from Maple Grove...
Or you could go for the "longest distance" award as cars destined for Hawaii were still available as heater delete cars. The underwater part of the trip might get a little fishy though. p
200# come on quit fibbing !! LOL Not really sure if weight matters that much on 4372lb Freighter like mine .... Definatly helps at the 60 foot mark :Brow: 1.94 yeah buddy.. Paul
there is a guy i know that lived near me in 1981 that had a 71 challenger r/t 440-6pk car that came out of hawaii that was a heater delete car , it was black and sinister
John, the '69 part. I think the ten year rule went into effect in the early '70's, So they don't have those records anymore. You may have the only '69 rulebook left! It's almost 40 years old!
